That result sucks. We gave up 2 goals that were pretty easily prevented if we just don't make dumb mistakes.
@PCarrESPN: This is the second time the #USMNT has lost a home World Cup qualifier by multiple goals.
The other time was in 1957 vs Mexico.

We're likely headed for fourth place, possibly fifth after Honduras. If we don't qualify, I could easily see or I think there should be mutiny inside the USSF and by the US press. There won't but it'll be funny to see Fox react to spending a ton of money for WC rights without the US
Silva has a arbitration lawsuit coming up against the USSF to try and force Pro Rel, Miami FC (Owned by Silva) and Kingston Crusaders are leading the suit and if the US doesn't pull their heads out of their ass, I think more will join the suit. Silva has a lot of money, a lot of money.

I'm not as knowledgeable as @ianoconnor @shagcarpetjesus @tim_redd as examples, but a few things from a novice:
- Altidore has all the talent, but for as long as he's been a national team member, has he improved at all? He's not a "smart" player
- Have never seen Howard beat so easily, much less twice. The back line was awful. On the 2nd goal, maybe, it was because there was an attempt at more forward pressure, leaving the back exposed, but I doubt it
- Pulisic looked like someone who hasn't been playing with the national team (and he hasn't been). He wasn't good
- Nagbi is great in space, but I don't think he's effective anywhere else. His passing isn't crisp. He isn't very good at collecting the ball, and he can't just let it rip...at least from what I've seen
- Soccer has more eye popping, long drought breaking stats than any other sport

You like so many other USMNT fans on this message board are completely laughable.
So quick to write off an 18 yr old that scores a goal for the USA in the WC (youngest WC goal scorer in history of US Men). Then you have the audacity to get sarcastic and question whether USA can reach the next WC 3 years into the cycle. A cycle that Julian hasn't featured in at all. Irony anyone? Julian Green could certainly help this team on the wing opposite of Pulisic
If you are truly looking for an answer you and a lot of other US coaches and fans should look in a mirror.
Is that true? I thought I heard them say there was a last time...at least in WC qualifying...and it was in the 50's. Maybe the HEX wasn't a thing back then though.
It's kinda funny that the Eurosnobs are completely scapegoating MLS, The main problem is the youth system.

Dude, you need to chill lol. I still think the US make the World Cup. It just got that much harder. It was a joke.
As for Julian Green, I'm sorry to break it to you, but no. He wouldn't help. He hasn't even made 20 first team club appearances since the World Cup. I'm not writing him off completely yet, but to say he would help this cycle is laughable. Just because he plays in Europe, doesn't mean he's good. I suppose he could turn it around, but I wouldn't count on it at this point.
Howard has lost a little bit, but I still trust him more than Guzan. They were kicking Pulisic from the 1st minute, and they definitely knocked him off his game. The more you watch Nagbe, the more accurate this is:

Bayern Munich let him go because they didn't see him helping them in the future. He signed with Stuttgart, a club that just got promoted back into the Bundesliga. You would think there'd be plenty of playing time available for a promising young player on a newly promoted club, but Stuttgart decided he wasn't going to help them this year and loaned him out to a second division club in Germany. There is no way to polish the turd that is Julian Green right now. Might he realize his potential and become a useful player in the future? Perhaps. But he does not belong anywhere near the USMNT right now.
Green shot himself in the foot by getting caught up in his hype after the World Cup. He should have gone out on loan while still on Bayern Munich's books in that 14/15 season. Unfortunately, he thought he was the **** and decided he was going to stay and fight for a spot on that club. Young players need to play, and while training with Bayern's first team is a fun thing to put on your resume, I don't think it's the greatest thing for a young player who never sees the field in competitive situations.
So other countries can have guys that perform for the National team even when they aren't in good club form but USA can't? Jozy Altidore was given all kinds of opportunities at the same age regardless of form. Remember Julian just turned 22.
It isn't like Julian was setting the world on fire before he came and scored for us IN A WORLD CUP. His pace on the wing was the reason he scored that goal in the World Cup, and pace on the wings with even a little attacking skill is something that we need. Common Sense dictates that he should have at the very least been given an chance the last 3 years. But you know what they say about common sense, it isn't all that common.
There's a difference between getting caught in a rough patch in your club situation and basically not playing any significant minutes for any club for 2+ seasons.
