Bruce had shown a willingness to make serious changes in the starting 11 in these qualifiers all throughout the Hex to make sure there were fresh legs out there given the short break in between matches. I think doubling down on Fridays 11 bit him in the ass tonight.

Gonzalez should never wear a USMNT shirt again.

GK: Howard, Guzan and Rimando should all never wear the shirt again. We need a total reboot on keepers.
D: Omar should never come within 10 feet of the shirt ever again
M: Bradley is done
F: Wondo shouldn't have been allowed near the shirt for the past 5 years. And Dempsey (I love the guy) will end up merely tied with Donovan

On second thought, let's not go to the World Cup, it is a silly place.
Yeah, I didn't want us to go anyway.

I'm still excited for the World Cup because I love international soccer, but not qualify is inexcusable. Heads need to roll.

At least then you just had a few months til the next year....we have four ******* long ass years now...
technically only about 2.5 years till qualification starts. Not that that makes it too much better

Seriously my kid loves soccer. It’s his favorite sport easy. He’s going to be 12 years old before he can realistically watch the USMNT in the World Cup. Mind blowing.

Turns out using the USMNT as a promo for MLS has totally backfired. The Olympics and now this, the house cleaning should start tonight and not end anytime soon.

Go look at the Panama "goal" as well. Wasn't even close to going in.

So for someone who watches zero soccer:
How bad is the US? I really don't care about or follow soccer but I play FIFA (no clue how that makes any sense) and will root for the US in anything.

Jurgen needed to go. I was willing to give Bruce a chance, but this is going to be a huge black mark on his legacy as a coach.
Yeah, I liked Klinsmann, but he needed to go. After this debacle though, I think Bruce also needs to go. He's done great things for the national team, but I don't see how you keep him after this. We have time to find a good coach, but I think we need someone new after this

Bruce is gone tonight. They may not announce it for a few days, but it's a done deal.

Mad here, but the first thing I thought of is we are basically texas football. We probably have the best collection of talent in the region outside of Mexico, but for some reason the management and the tactics and the various other political agendas get in the way so at times we're capable of overwhelming teams but also unable to get a simple result against a far inferior opponent.

As far as I'm concerned, keep Pulisic, Yedlin, Wood, Jozy (maybe), Acosta, Arriola.... am I missing anyone?

Pulisic currently researching if there's any way he could play for Croatia still, some kind of "I've made a huge mistake" loophole.

Seems a lot more ridiculous now. "Wanting to challenge players" and "losing to Mexico and Costa Rica" and "not getting along with the MLS brass" are laughable reasons to have fired Jurgen after what we witnessed tonight.

I am so tired of Gulati's belief that MLS is a premier soccer league worldwide - such that he demands his players play here instead of going overseas where the competition is better and thus themselves will get better by playing over there. I doubt MLS is even top 20 worldwide (I'm going to go out on a limb and say several 2nd-tier leagues, if not 3rd-tier leagues, in Europe are better than MLS). It's not even the best league in CONCACAF. I'm not saying MLS is a bad thing; what I'm saying is if you think you're going to build a successful national program that uses MLS as its primary tool for for player development, then you shouldn't have a job with the national program. I get that MLS has to be the foundation, but if you want USMNT to be successful you have to encourage as many players to play elsewhere as possible.
