The main problem I have is that by completely cancelling the entire event, it makes it much easier to connect the drinking and partying to the actual celebration. The two are no way related to each other as most students use this week as an excuse to get wasted. I think they needed to cancel the concerts and some late night events but leave the traditions like cherry pies. Focus on the good parts instead of getting rid of the whole thing.

Yeah this was my thought as well. Shut the thing done at 5PM every night, but no reason to shut the whole thing down all together. The "partiers" are the ones who cause the riot, and the "partiers" are going to party regardless.

when he said he chose 5pm today because "all the problems are at night", I thought the same thing. Why not just cancel anything after 5pm in the day? And still say consider this your audition for whether or not there is a VEISHEA next year.

Seriously. The scanner is all about house parties, these cops are a bunch of tools. Big deal let them have their house parties. If they are at a house party they aren't on Welch rioting.

But the student numbers heavily outweigh the Ames Police. They must funnel the students to the hot gates, err I mean Welch Ave, where their numbers count for nothing. I heard this straight from Police Chief Leonidas.

Sounds like they're getting ready to break up a house party of about 200-250.
Isn't this what has started pretty much every riot?

Uh oh. Breaking up a big party now. Are we in for another riot? I already told my wife if one breaks out I am going to watch.
