The only way I see him signing is if 1) we have someone not committing, i.e. okoro, or someone is leaving the team because I dont see Fred as the kind of guy who would oversign and then force somebody out or 2) he doesn't sign in the fall and waits until the spring and then somebody leaves the team and we have a scholarship to use, but he has said he wants to sign in November.

That didn't stop him with Eric McKnight, though. Nothing against Fred I agree with getting rid of players who aren't helping.

Don't think it's Okoro. Coach Fred was in NY visiting him yesterday.

We will oversign by 1 player. Someone will leave. 15 years in a row someone has left. Also what is wrong with a player who don't contribute that supposed to come to ISU and contribute. If you are not playing the way and preparing the way your supposed to then you need to find a new school. I don't mind telling a kid that he is not living up to his end of the bargain and needs to find a new school or pay there own way.

We won't oversign by one player. There is a reason the SEC teams get so much crap for oversigning in football, and it is because it is shady and kind of crappy for a coach to do. THere are always going to be guys at the end of the bench, forcing them out for new recruits just puts other guys at the end of the bench, so we should oversign every year and kick off whoever is playing the worst?

We oversigned by 1 last year. I see no reason why we would not this year. ISU fans need to get off their high horse on this one. We are no better and no worse than 95% of the NCAA programs out there. I know we like to flaunt moral superiority against other teams, but I think we all realize we will do a lot to win as well. Including being a little shady.

Fred didn't kick him off of the team because we oversigned if that is what you are suggesting. We could still have McKnight on the team, we have an open scholarship. He left the team because i am sure Fred gave him an honest assesment of his skill level and chance of getting playing time. The kid chose to transfer instead of staying at ISU and waiting 3 years before seeing meaningful minutes.

No we didn't. We had Sledge McGee and Lucious and Odunsi committed when Mcknight left and we had enough spots for all of them to come here. Because we had three seniors and one open spot. McKnight left the team in March. Which gave us an additional scholarship. He wasn't forced out because of oversigning. Then Odunis decommited leaving us two open scholarships. Then Clyburn decided to transfer leaving us still with one open scholarship. Then Godfrey was kicked off leaving us with two scholarships again. Then we signed Gibson. At no point were we oversigned.

That was way earlier in the year when everyone thought that Cook was coming here but as it turns out he wasn't playing basketball at his high school because of academic problems and then he was having other issues and had had been taken out of his school. I am pretty sure that the coaches knew his academic and other problems and knew that he was not coming and hence they signed Both Sledge and McGee. I would bet a lot of money that the coaches knew Cook wasn't going to make it but I think they did him a favor and let him 'commit'.

That is why I said the only way I see us signing NWC is if another one of our prospects is actually not going to come here or Fred has found out a player is leaving.

This is different. It was easy to speculate on who wouldn't be here. This year it's not obvious at all.

Losing Railey leaves this team very low on bigs unless replaced by a big, as opposed to NWC. That said, nobody else makes any sense.

Why does everyone assume that Fred has the same information that we do on this message board?

If Fred is still pushing for him, it means there will likely be an open spot.
