If winners never quit and quitters never win, how does someone quit while they're ahead

I told my wife an O-lineman left and I swear to you she just asked me "So is Rashad Vaughn taking his place?"
No lie. Still laughing.
If this is a sign that the recent poor play has the staff testing the mettle of the team to a level that forces some to quit, I'll take it. That is what we need.
Improving in every facet of the game as we need to is going to take some discomfort. It is very likely not the kind of commitment that those looking for a "balanced" life will want to be a part of. Frankly, we need guys that put football in front of everything else. Hopefully this is what Gannon's departure is about and he is in good health.
I want to say this: Jacob Gannon is a quality young man from a great family....if he felt he had to leave, the problem lies much more with this program than him. Anyone complaining about this fine young man is not seeing what the real problems must be. Seriously, something is rotten.

Ythanks for the insight, no one could see that the program is in trouble so I am glad you pointed it out.
Apparently that test was not hard enough. The mettle of most of these guys was tested last year. I suspect that's a lot of the problem with the program right now.
We are not looking for someone to date your daughter. For the program it would be better to just have average young men that are motivated by success on the field more than anything else.I want to say this: Jacob Gannon is a quality young man from a great family....if he felt he had to leave, the problem lies much more with this program than him. Meh.......Jake Gannon is who you try to recruit. These are the guys who give a foundation. I feel MUCH worse aobut this "program" than I did even after the last game. Looking at our roster today, I noticed Coach gave his own son a scholie. nice.
Just to be clear, I'm taking the public statement -- "burnout" -- at face value and making my criticisms based on that.He was in the program 4 years. He should have had a pretty good idea by this past summer of what year 5 was going to look like.
Attitude is within your own control. If you find yourself in a situation where your "heart's not into it," you might need to make a conscious decision to get your heart back into it.
Apparently that test was not hard enough.
Most think it is the loss that tests your mettle- but it is the process of preventing future losses does. If their mettle had been tested Gannon is not quitting mid-practice in Week 2 of this year after the team going limp in Game 1.
Posts like this are the most worthless on CF. People that complain about a thread but know damn well what its about: speculation. Why is everyone so concerned about a player who left the team for whatever reason he wants to give? He's not coming back. Campos will start. Does this really need 39 pages of conversation about something nobody will ever know the truth unless your name is Jacob Gannon?
