Again someone looking to get rid of Jones. Having a Big XII body and accepting his role is a a nice player to have. Adding a post with 2 years left would be ideal to rotate with Ward next year and Rock the following. Still if Jones wants to stay he'd be a great break glass incase of emergency guy.

Is there an extra dumb button for this post?

Nowhere did I (or anybody) say they wanted Jones and Grill gone. In fact, Jones and Grill would nicely fill the two holes in the roster I identified for a true big man to provide depth and experience behind Ward and the freshman Momcilovic and an experienced guard to go with King and Hamilton.

I was just putting together a speculative scenario for fun with the full knowledge and acknowledgement there are way too many variables undecided right now to do anything like an accurate forecast. That is, I was having some silly mirth about a basketball team, which is the purpose of a site like this.

I do know there will be attrition and roster changes before then because there always is. Doing a forecast on a "static" roster is the only thing that is absolutely bound to be wrong, so I just picked two guys to move, and the two I picked could decide to call it a career after playing four years of college ball. Nobody knows which of the four guys who can will take the COVID year, so I just picked two of them, and I picked the two who have had their "full" four years in college after this season and might be ready to move on.

I'd welcome either back. Those two as super-seniors are likely to be at least as good (if not better) than what might be available in the transfer market. But I had to assume some changes.

Heck, I wrote a post a few days ago defending Grill on the grounds the advanced stats like him over Gabe.

I think he'll be in a three many rotation with Biliew and Momcilovic at the 3 & 4. If he's still 230 he could serve as a small ball five when necessary.
Tre King is a post man. He is not a wing. He can stretch the floor and hit the 3. But his ball handling, and ability to guard wings is not the greatest. He is a 4 who can shoot.

Ok, King is a 4. He's 6'7. Biliew and Momcilovic can play the 3 and 4. That could make a great rotation at the 3/4.

Alright, rank lineup speculation for 13 months from now with a little more thought behind it and the help of a my Bluetooth keyboard.

I am going to assume Grill and Jones “retired” and move on with their lives after playing four years of college ball each. I could be wrong and either could come back, but knocking those two out gives you ten on the projected scholarship chart to put this guess together.

STARTERS:

Lipsey
E. King
Biliew
T. King
Momcilovic

BENCH:

Williams
Hamilton
Watson
Fish
Ward

Lipsey is probably going to be incumbent at the starting PG position, though Williams returns as a high-level backup to split minutes with him. Eli King has a year of experience over Hamilton. Tre King is the longest-tenured player on the roster at this point, so he likely starts, and I am just going to assume that recruits with the pedigree of Biliew and Momcilovic start from day one. The other wings and big men make up the back end of the rotation in the 3-5 range.

There would still be three scholarships to play with if this shake out this way, and I imagine TJ would be active in the transfer market, but I don’t see any glaring needs out of that roster compared to the past two years. Sure, it is relatively inexperienced and relying mostly on talented freshmen and sophomores, but that is just going to be the nature of the beast going forward building this program. Another true big man to replace Jones and provide some depth might be nice and maybe an experience guard to replace Kalscheur and Grill. Besides those, however, I think it is in good shape.

There, better?

There you go, better. Haha. And like you said, a lot will change between now and then. And like you said, Jones and Grill could be very welcome in there also.

That looks like a pretty deep team though. Like 1 a1 vs. 1 a2. Good depth.

For anyone interested Omaha is playing on YouTube tonight. It's half time right now. He is the best player on the floor right now between 2 teams full of 4 and 5 star players. #6 for Blue Checks.

I’m extremely excited he’s going to play his senior year of high school ball 2 minutes from my house.

Thanks for the link!

Couldn't find too much about these two teams. I guess this is sort of an all-star game. Would love to see and end game box score.

Edit: I did find information on OverTime Elite! There it is. Salaried path to the NBA.

Some good players, both sides. How about #3 Robert Dillingham! Flashy!

In the transfer era, you cannot project lineups until late May or June...

I'm more excited about Milan than Omaha. A lot of you are understating his elite scoring ability. You can pare him with Omaha, a PG and some shooting. Thats a sweet 16 formula
Do we have these?

E. King and Grill? Lipsey?

Only 3 freshmen in the entire league saw more than spot minutes in B12 play last year. Maybe not in the sport as a whole, but in the B12 it is.

And the one that led our team to the Sweet 16 was 6’0 and thin. If you can ball then you can ball. That’s the bottom line in basketball.

There’s no good program out there that’s like, you don’t weigh enough, or your biceps don’t measure out, or you need to get your leg press up another 100 lbs and then you can play. The reason freshman don’t play is because they aren’t mentally ready. The concepts and asks of the game plan from HS/AAU to P5 CBB is daunting.
