Wow, slow time in Ames to be staking out the liquor stores.

Hopefully they have learned their lesson, when buying for your friends wait until you are somewhere secluded to pass the beer over....

I had a buddy once who helped carry a six pack for his friend to his car. The cop gave him a ticket in Hy-Vee parking lot for minor in possession. I remember thinking that was crazy too.

Not sure if any of you have lived anywhere else in the world besides the United States but most of the world is ok with you helping carry your friends beer to their car...

I'm rambling.

Carry on, just don't carry on with a six pack if you are under 21.

Wow, so the police sit outside the liquor store, then follow people who buy alcohol home and see what they do with it? What a waste, not to mention following people for no other reason than they were at a liquor store on a weekend night seems like harassment.

I understand arresting somebody that they see doing this but utilizing resources to go to this extent is mind boggling.

Man, the police use to do this 10-12 years ago at the Keg Shop. An under 21 friend of mine got a MIP for helping carry the beer to the car.

If that's the law, do the Fareway "bag boys" need to be ticketed too?

I've got worse. I know someone who got an MIP because they grabbed a beer for their of age family member out of the cooler at a tailgate and gave it to them (it was either a brother or parents, all were there iirc). The cop saw the entire thing happen and gave him a ticket after (not like the cop just saw him with the beer and he tried to excuse it with 'its for them').

Even not questioning the idiocy that is the 21-law, there's the letter and the spirit of the law, and this cop was definitely violating the spirit.

I think I can honestly say that I wouldn't entertain any sort of suspension for this, and probably wouldn't even have them run an extra sprint in practice. I think I would shrug this off.

Agreed.

Did no one read the part that said "if convicted could spend up to a year in jail with an $1857 fine." He very easily could be suspended or kicked off the team. Unlikely but still possible.

Quite frankly, I would be shocked if Tyrus didn't get at least a game suspension out of this.

Our non-conference schedule (home) is full of creampuffs. Suspend him if needed and we'll never know the difference.

Any of those would be completely over the top.
If anything, I would make him tie his shoes one extra time, just to show I could. This is as inconsequential as things can be.
