Cubs.

Loved going to I-Cubs games as a kid, and that translated into watching Chicago when players who were in Iowa went to the big leagues. Seeing as Iowa doesn't have a team, the Cubs feel like the local team in DSM. Easy to catch them on WGN, and watching a game at Wrigley when you get the chance is a great experience.

Giants, obviously. Started following them in 1988. My interest has had peaks and valleys over the years, but they've always been my team. My grandfather was a Cubs fan and he thought I should be also, but I never bought into it. I'm not from Chicago, nor have I ever lived there, so there was no connection for me. Needless to say, the last few years have been fun and exciting beyond imagination.

My AL team is Minnesota, but they're a distant 2nd favorite. I also follow Oakland and liked Houston when Craig Biggio played for them. Otherwise, when the playoffs come around, who I cheer for is entirely situational, depending on the match-ups. I will never like the Dodgers (a requirement as a Giants fan), Braves, or Yankees.

Cubs, remember watching game after game when I was growing up due to WGN and Harry Carry and Steve Stone. Never could get into the Braves with TBS on all the time.

Now that the Royals AA team is by me I have started following them closer and think this may be the year for the Royals to make some noise, which should help bridge the gap between the Cubs season ending in the next couple of weeks and Football starting.

Cubbies. Cuz apparently I'm into self mutilation.

On the bright side, however, Opening Day means we don't have a losing record and aren't mathematically eliminated from the playoffs!! :jiggy:

Favorite: Oakland A's
Other teams I like:
Diamondbacks, Royals, Reds

I've been an A's fan since the mid-90s, but I started as a Giants fan (lived in the Bay Area from '91-'94). Not sure why I switched (maybe due to the Giants' collapse in '93 or the strike), but I became an A's fan (I generally picked teams to like based on geography and if they sucked. So when I chose an NBA team, I chose the Milwaukee Bucks over the Chicago Bulls because they were close and they sucked).

I can attest to the Giants-Dodgers hatred. I was at FAO Schwarz (huge, multi-story toy store in San Fran) and saw Cory Snyder. He was with the Giants the year before and had just become a Dodger. Well, we later went to a Giants shop looking at jerseys and I mentioned how cool it was to see Snyder to a lady working there. She just glared at me like I was the worst person in the world. I was 7 years old! It was bizarre.

Royals!!

Grandparents lived in KC and had shared season tickets with friends while I was growing up. Would go to a bunch of games each summer. Growing up in Central, Iowa I would listen to games on AM radio. I would have to wrap foil over the antenna and place stuff in my room just right, so I could hear Denny Mathews voice through the static. That was the 80s and early 90s. Now that I have kids, I'm excited that the Royals are at least showing progress and we can watch them on TV.

Twins fan here. When I was younger I was a fan of the Braves because my grandma was, but I've been a Twins fan for a long time. I love going to games and Target Field is beautiful.

the Royals. Because I am a glutton for punishment. And they are my local team. Just love them, despite all the terrible years.

Indians for me. For a few reasons.. 1.) They were awesome when I was a kid. 2.) Major League was and always will be a favorite movie of mine. And 3.) I was always a stubborn kid who picked favorite teams just to go against my dad or brother, who are both Twins fans. (But hey, that's how I became a Cyclone fan! They're, ehem..Hawks..)

I am going to my first A's game at the Coliseum (I don't care what it's called now - it will always be the Coliseum to me) at the end of this month. Despite having lived in the Bay Area for ten years (85-95), I never made it to an A's game. Something always interfered when we would make plans to check them out. But this time I am visiting SF with a friend who is going to a conference for work and he wanted someone who knew the area to go with him. My arm really had to be twisted to talk me into it... The Giants are out of town on those days, but we will still tour AT&T Park - a must see for any baseball fan who visits the area out there. Absolutely spectacular ballpark! Don't get me started on the food choices... so good! Anyway, I'm excited to see the A's play the Angels - should be good!
