The Blue Jays. Have a chance to be first team in a long time to go back to back to back as WS champions (if you dont count the years 1994-2012, which I dont).

If the season ended today, the Cubs would be in first place. Can we end the season today?

How about Bryce Harper..two homers today. Kid could turn out to be one of the best to ever play the game.

Neither of my parents really follow baseball so in general I cheer for the midwest teams. Now that I'm at Wooster, Cleveland's probably my favorite team. I figure I've grown up an Iowa State fan and can take it.

I think it is safe to project the rest of the season and assume the Cubs end with 162 wins, Rizzo winning the homerun and RBI titles, and Marmol ending the season with a 27.00 ERA

I am going to my first A's game at the Coliseum (I don't care what it's called now - it will always be the Coliseum to me) at the end of this month. Despite having lived in the Bay Area for ten years (85-95), I never made it to an A's game. Something always interfered when we would make plans to check them out. But this time I am visiting SF with a friend who is going to a conference for work and he wanted someone who knew the area to go with him. My arm really had to be twisted to talk me into it... The Giants are out of town on those days, but we will still tour AT&T Park - a must see for any baseball fan who visits the area out there. Absolutely spectacular ballpark! Don't get me started on the food choices... so good! Anyway, I'm excited to see the A's play the Angels - should be good!

Exactly. Always will be the Coliseum. When it's packed in there, it can be really loud and intimidating. Odds are though, it won't be too packed (should be able to get some good tickets for a good price. Went to a games for OAK and SF back in 2006. Ticket prices were same for both games. For OAK, 10 rows behind 3rd base dugout. For SF, 10 rows from the top row upper deck, but you get to see the bay! Wow!). The Coliseum is also kind of dirty as is and if you actually compare it to AT&T, it is a garbage dump (though sea gulls won't be there to crap on you like AT&T). And I love the Coliseum! It's just the way it is. What's the phrase? "A son only a mother could love," kind of deal.

Too bad you missed the A's during the time you were there, they had some great teams then. The Angels will be a fun game though. State pride/Division rival on the line.

The Des
Cardinals fan here. And I would like to note that by definition, the infield fly call was technically correct.

No, it was not.

"An INFIELD FLY is a fair fly ball (not including a line drive nor an attempted bunt) which can be caught by an infielder with ordinary effort, when first and second, or first, second and third bases are occupied, before two are out."

"
When it seems apparent that a batted ball will be an Infield Fly, the umpire shall immediately declare “Infield Fly” for the benefit of the runners. If the ball is near the baselines, the umpire shall declare “Infield Fly, if Fair.”"

It was not under ordinary effort (baseball analysts like to use the word "camped"), and it was called half a second before the ball hit the ground, so not "immediately".

Giants. The "Say Hey" kid was my favorite player and got me hooked for life. Now Buster Posey is the man. Defending World Champs; with a repeat on the way.

I won't try to say the umpire didn't call it too late, because he did, but I'm guessing he was waiting to see if Holliday would catch it.

Also, if you watch it, Kozma didn't have to sprint, he was jogging, and was actually under the ball, until he thought he heard Holliday call it and left his spot. I think this video shows the play well, and actually explains well why the umpire called it when he did.

O trust me, I've seen every angle of the play about 20 times. Maybe I'm a bit biased, but it still didn't seem like ordinary effort, and he definitely didn't camp. But yes, it was undeniably called much too late.
