I'm rethinking the wildcat now... We ran it 4-5 times always with DM and it's on tape for all to see. But the weapons in that formation - going forward if they work on it - could be a great series of plays/players from the same formation... Plays, formations and players is one of the mantras...
wasnt Montgomery a QB in high school? I think a shot at a fake sweep throwback to Kene/ somebody would be a decent wrinkle.

I agree, but did we put a spy on Murray at all today? It seemed like every time he scrambled it was a 5 yard gain at least

Murray was really good, but the OU WR were holding like crazy every time he was running. Probably a dozen really bad holds that turned a 3 yard gain into an 8 yard gain. They were really sneaky about it, coming up from behind the LBers and blocking them in the back, or grabbing them so they couldn't cut to the outside to stop him.

Make some more tackles and keep improving on the OL like they did from week 1-2 and we are going to beat more ranked opponents this year. Kyler is rediculous. He was the x-factor that gave OU the clear edge today. 2nd to 4th place in the Big 12 is still up for grabs and I see ISU right in the conversation.

I've been critical of the wildcat so far, but the unorthodox backfield-shift thing ISU is using looks like a setup for something like what you describe, putting Montgomery in a QB role. A question is whether it's risking potential wins for long-term payoff.

Hard to be disappointed in how we played overall. Minus some head-scratching play calls, the offense is looking much better.

Defense didn't have a bad outing, OU is just that good.

You think not making it a priority to go to your tall capable wide receivers and putting your QB out as a decoy in the red zone isn't a problem?

Overall they were better at getting the ball to playmakers but this staff overthinks things when it gets tight.

I have no issue with ISU running the wildcat, but it is just stupid to leave a QB that is no threat to run, block or catch the ball in the game. Get another TE in there.

Also completely unrelated but the OU fans I sat by were almost unbearable. They were all nice until OU got ahead and then they started making deragatory comments and remarks about ISU. Also, they were packing dip all game long and then one time when the Oklahoma cheerleaders were running with the flags he was like “Daddy likes that”, which was weird. Best part about it was that they didn’t even go to OU, or anywhere remotely close to it. He went to Western Illinois.

Also have the snap recipient be a thrower. DM played QB but I think he mainly ran.

I’m sure it’s been discussed plenty today, but Hakeem Butler is a beast. His balance and strength make him so hard to tackle. That first TD of his was amazing.

Ya, I watched his highlights from HS and he didn't pass a lot. Still had 700+ yards passing his senior year, so he probably could throw it to someone wide open.

Defense was poor. I understand OU's offense is great but that was a subpar performance. But, they buckled down and performed well in the 4th quarter. Unfortinately the offense wasn't able to capitalize. There was a couple of possession stretch where OU didn't get any points but ISU was only able to come away with 3. That was the pivotal point in the game.

Oline was no good (no holes to rush through, RBs have to do all the work). Zeb was excellent. He should be starter from here on out.

Some of the play calling was questionable. That wildcat package was awful. Not running Montgomery on 3rd and 1 was a head scratcher.

Offense is going to have to come through in the 4th quarter this year if a bowl game is in the future.

There is so much wrong with this post I dont know where to begin..

1- There were holes in that game today...Sure not enough but that OL improved a lot from game 1..especially in the run game.

2- Tackling at times was bad no doubt but u also get that when u play an offense wiht elite athletes.

3- How many teams will hold OU to 30 some points? I’ll await the answer.

4- We just played arguably best offense in the country with a potential heisman candidate at QB who is a threat to run on any down.

5- It is laughable to think that our defense is bad..Sure at times in this game they played poorly it happens.

6- This team improved drastically from last week and has a lot of talent on both sides.

Love that Mike Rose kid. Already a star
Eisworth had a great game. Just wish he'd wrap up
OL looked much better in the run game. Still need to protect better. Hopefully Knipfel is okay
I'm cool with whoever Campbell puts at QB next week

Your mantra is backward ;). Players first, than formations, than plays.

The wildcat just doesn’t look sharp at this point. The timing is weird. I don’t think Montgomery is comfortable with it. He doesn’t run like himself out of it. He’s a little tentative.

Understandable, two games and he has yet to see a hole.
