Hard to be disappointed in how we played overall. Minus some head-scratching play calls, the offense is looking much better.

Defense didn't have a bad outing, OU is just that good.
And we hung with them. I think there are a lot of positives to take away from today's game.

Disappointing, sure. But we are for real.

The rest of the season is going to be exciting.

The stadium was embarrassing at the beginning of the 3rd quarter. It was hot but no excuse for the place to be almost empty.

I think that after the SDSU deal the fans took this “storm is brewing” thing too literally and bolted out of fear.

I have no issue with ISU running the wildcat, but it is just stupid to leave a QB that is no threat to run, block or catch the ball in the game. Get another TE in there.
You do not have issues with your team running a play that:
-its players consistently look uncomfortable running
-its players consistently have trouble executing
-its players consistently have trouble blocking
-rarely nets positive yardage, essentially just wasting a down
-does not appear to “set up” something later in the game, thus essentially just wasting a down
-typically causes the offense to either jump offsides or hold

...interesting.

That probably is correct, but in that situation, one of the best backs in the country needs to be the one with the ball and the coaches should make that adjustment
I believe that DM is one of the players mentioned as having problems with cramps. Could that have been it?

I left this game disappointed but encouraged. There are no moral victories and we were a couple of plays away from winning this one. Last week I was just )#(*$&% off.
That’s...the definition of a moral victory?

FYI, Knipfel was also a cramp issue. I think the only player mentioned as actually dinged up was Chase Allen? And he should be back Saturday.

What happened to Allen? I missed that during the game.

I'm disappointed about the lost but encouraged about our chances against TCU. I think TCU's defense is better than OU's but I'm pretty confident that will be the best offense we'll face all year.

I'm not into any moral victories but this OU team would have beaten past Isu teams by 60. We stood toe to toe and with some better execution could have tied things up in the fourth. This is growth of a program when you go from being the joke of the conference to staring in the eye the league leader.

ISU needs something to get that 3rd and 1, 4th and 1 plays. Lanning did a great job of it last year. So far it has not worked, but lets face it, ISU is not going to do much most of the time in short yardage no matter what they do. I would have much rather run the wildcat without a QB in there against Iowa when it was 2nd and goal, instead of the crap they did run.

Anyone else at the game with Verizon actually have service? First game in years with Verizon that I had service, let alone LTE in the stadium. Don’t know what changed but I like it!

It took us nearly 15 minutes to get from the 9th row to get to the concessions stand line. Then wait for another 20 minute line to get two bottles of water. By the time we got back, OU punted and ISU scored. We weren't the only ones caught up in lines just to get water so that is a big reason why the stadium looked so bare after half. Sorry, some people don't want to pass out.

Is it Mitchell that's the dual threat QB? I think it's basically what they did last year with Lanning, except he was proven to be able to throw. Putting Noland out wide just takes away an option.

They DID get like 4 yards on one wildcat play but I still want to see the defense pressing and spread out, especially if it's Butler, Eaton, Allen, Jones, and DM as your potential pass catchers.

I saw the hint of a rumor on another board that Re-al MIGHT be dinged up? No idea if there are any legs to it... Was hoping to see him as he's been touted in the past.

Hey at least it wasn't 49-7 OU up at half today.

Your mantra is backward ;). Players first, then formations, then plays.

The wildcat just doesn’t look sharp at this point. The timing is weird. I don’t think Montgomery is comfortable with it. He doesn’t run like himself out of it. He’s a little tentative.

Agree... I think CMC may be playing the long-game with that formation but DM DID look like he was trying to emulate Lanning with little success.

I saw him playing catch with Purdy on the sideline and didn't look shaken up.

I'd guess Re-al is 3rd on the depth chart right now unless Moore is also ahead of him?

Before the game Zeb and Purdy were warming up throwing the ball to each other, so I'm guessing it would be Purdy right now after Zeb.

We went under center once or twice....that was a welcomed sight!

Some of us buy green bananas because we understand there is a pay-off in the future?

You make it sound like someone drew it up in the dirt immediately before the game. Guessing the execution of this brand-new to ISU formation has looked differently during the many practice reps. Unless of course the drawing in the dirt thing is true.

I’m a little worried about losing a game or two due to bad special teams. They’re pretty sketchy, and probably the way we’ll lose to KSU this year. The good news is that going for it because we can’t kick deep field goals may actually be a positive when you do the probabilities .

We got a team to be proud of again. Some real dudes on this squad.
Bringing a wooden stake with me to the KSU game...leave the Vampire up to me.

Since 2015 this OU team has lost 6 total games. That's 39-6 with 3 Big XII championships since 2015. 2 of those 6 losses are in the CFB Playoffs.

ISU
Georgia - CFB Playoffs
Houston
Ohio State
Clemson - CFB Playoffs
Texas

It's early, but this offense might be the best they've had. I fully understand Baker was a Heisman winner but Kyler Murray is legit. He was a 5* and #1 dual threat QB in the country out of HS. He's the real deal.

OU simply doesn't get beat very often. Being able to line up and play with them competitively shows how far this team has come. I understand the argument against "moral victories" but this isn't the same as the moral victories people were claiming from a few years ago.

I know how most people feel about moral victories, but I'm feeling cautiously optimistic after today. The front half of the schedule is brutal, but it's not hard to envision this group going on a tear to end the season.

Zeb played well. Such a contrast in styles between him and Kempt. I'm comfortable with either under center going forward, but it's very obvious who offers more upside. It may be a moot point for a couple weeks anyway. I'm no doctor but that was a beast of a brace on Kempt's leg today. He didn't look like he'll be good to go any time soon.
