Not exactly sure.
Today G5 have a voice. With the NCAA constitutional convention this fall and weakening if NCAA, the G5 could go the route of UNI level
I don’t see a break away just yet, and I think that is the only way that scenario can happen. Watch how long the big and pac go for media rights. Short, it could be happening. Long, very doubtful.

Dan whoever and Dennis Dodds whoever etc...while connected...I can guarantee have not spoken with the decision makers for the PAC or BIG and that is University President's. Make no mistake...at end of the day it is the Univ President's who make this decision..

in 2016 the PACN had 14 million subscribers. By contrast in 2014 the BIG Network had an estimated 60 Million subscribers in 2014..

I cannot fathom any scenario where the Consultant group for the PAC tells the PAC "It is in the conferences best interest financially to not expand".

Adding 4 central time zone schools from the A8 alone would probably increase PACN subscriber base by at least 30%...at a minimum.

Kinda hard to improve your brand when 2/3 of the country cant and doesnt watch your content.

How'd you get to that number?

L. O. L. I'm guessing you're in your mid to late 20's?

This completely irrelevant question makes clear that you can’t really disagree. Hocutt spoke up when being quiet would have kept everyone calmer. Pollard isn’t that stupid even though I bet he was just as taken aback by the Alliance.

So I'm right. But aside from that, being "taken aback" by "an alliance" doesn't change anything. Why would it? And, how do you know Hocutt's comments aren't scripted? Don't you find it interesting how deafeningly quiet and calm the rest of the conference's AD's are while you're panicking? If Bowlsby and ADJP start screaming or showing ANY concern then you can get worried.

It’s so convenient that every development, no matter what it is, is good for Iowa State. Everything’s quiet? Good news. One AD is complaining but everyone else is quiet? Good news. Guessing no matter what happens next, you’ll think it’s good for ISU.

Some people are so frightened of what a future Big 12 with Cincinnati and UCF would look like that they choose to live in their own alternate reality where every single thing that happens means that can’t be the outcome. I can’t blame fragile minds for inventing a world that they feel safe and comfy in during this. It really is a sh***y time for us all.

I believe y'all are correct that quietness is a positive sign. When Bowlsby stopped shouting, I thought at that moment ESPN said to him: We haven't eliminated renewing our contract.

You're young, that's not your fault. But let those who are paid to take care of things take care of things. While I'm sure they want your input I'm certain they've got far more useful information than anyone here. But, maybe not, maybe you're right and Pollard is quiet because he's sitting at his desk browsing the internet to see what Hocutt said too! :jimlad:

Once again, you appear to be the frightened one. The rest of us are just saying that quietness is common among these situations. One AD said a few things about a in state college they were not happy with. That’s it. It seems more suspicious now that everyone else went quiet. These guys know more than us or the media talking heads know. The big ten guy dealing with stuff is Alvarez supposedly and Hanks for the PAC. Nobody has ever brought up stuff from them, always an AD department source. So we are talking people probably removed aways and hearing what the people in charge want to have leaked to them.

Hocutt talking doesn't give me a great feeling, but I have never suspected from the beginning that there would ever be any discussions with the Big12 as a whole. There's no need or real benefit. Discussions on expansion are going to be on an individual school basis.

Keep in mind the media members that have ACTUAL sources are a tiny number. Most sources being talked about are just other media members. It's media close to this or that conference, not people in the conferences or at the schools.

Now, would some leaking info about interest be great to hear? Sure. But we also have to keep in mind that the member schools of a conference like the PAC, if they are going to add schools, would be in negotiations with schools. There isn't some standard process for this. If I was considering negotiating to add teams and reduce their initial cut for media rights for a few years I'd certainly be leaking that there isn't much interest, but who knows. I know some smoke on the positive would be great, but it's up to JP to get a deal done.

We are both yelling at clouds posting on a message board, anyway. Your consultant M&A background is very valuable here.

The perfect negotiations are when both sides walk away equally dissatisfied. If the AD's show ANY optimism at this point they start to lose their foot hold in negotiation. We shouldn't expect any news for quite some time.

I could see this, but it doesn’t seem like national media are hearing “nothing” - they are actively hearing from Pac-12/B1G sources that those leagues are not interested. Could be obfuscation, or could just be the truth.

Do you seriously think that they’re reporting anything their sources don’t want released?

Google is your friend...I actually think the BIG has lost some subscribers since 2014...

Well I Googled "how much would Pac 12 network subscribers grow by expanding with Big 12 teams" and didn't see anything about PACN subscriber base growing by 30% minimum if it added four central time zone schools, so if you did I'd be interested in that link.

Maybe we should both bill the university. You can charge for "research" for browsing the interwebs, and I'll charge for PR consulting.

If there is anything big happening, there might be a handful of people in the know. So sure national media might be hearing one message from their sources. That's how compartmentalization works.

Also, I think any interest in B12/8 is 2 or 3 steps into the process. Until we hear USC, Oregon, etc. are staying in Pac12 everything else is on hold.

Is that what he told you?

you seriously think that the reporters “breaking all this news” haven’t been fed it by their sources in the conference, who are controlling the narrative?

that’s why Spartan became so obvious.

You think Spartan is an ESPN psyop?
