I'm guessing in a general sense he's talking about players who prioritize the Draft and their NFL potential ahead of their team and winning football games.

For an example see Texas on any passing play last weekend. There were 5-6 guys more concerned about adding a sack to their stats than sticking to their responsibilities.

Didn't Jake Knott do just that last year by electing to have surgery when he did? He could have played the rest of the year and had surgery after the season, but it would have really hurt his future in the NFL. Great choice on his part if you ask me.

Knott in the NFL helps ISU more than additional games played in Ames.

I can only guess he is talking about Clowney from SC.

That's who the question was based on, but the answer seemed to imply someone at Iowa State being affected like that. The only one I can think of would be Knott last year, but that isn't the same situation as Clowney.

IIRC, Knott played in the Baylor game last year (after it was confirmed he was hurt) because his surgery was scheduled for after the Baylor game and the doctor told him he could not hurt it any more if he played but it will hurt..really bad. Jake the badass he is decided to play and kicked *** in his last game as a Cyclone even though he was playing in excruciating pain. That is Cyclone to look up to kids.

I'm thinking Jake Knott didn't make the decision to have surgery on his own. Considering how much he gave to ISU football, he's exempt.

He wasn't implying someone from ISU. He just was talking about players he's seen throughout his coaching career. He's had much more years coaching at other places under his belt than at ISU.

Uttering something that could possibly be taken wrong about Knott is enough for banishment. He is a cyclone legend.

OK, back to the show, since I'm listening now....Cael Sanderson would get kids to ISU?!?!?!?!? Apparently not, or so he thought.

My guesses: Larry Fiztgerald or Darrelle Revis ?

A couple thoughts on this week:

When's the last time that an ISU head football coach has been on 2 nationally focused radio shows (perhaps an asterisk on Jay Mohr, not sure how many stations carry it) in a week? Great exposure thanks to our passionate coach (and getting jobbed, unfortunately).

Second, the programs: Dan Patrick, who left the 'mothership' and is not shy about bagging on their internal 'politics', and Jay Mohr, on Fox Sports Radio. Take that with Deadspin, and the other websites running with the stories from last weeks' game, despite ESPN's glossing over of it, could this be part of a fight against ESPN and the protect the big guys culture? If Fox Sports wants to make ISU their Cinderella and dress her up and take her to the ball, I'm all for it!

It's possible that losing to Texas did more for the future of the program than winning.

Coach should of invited Jay in for a home game or two. You know he would of been all over that. Imagine seeing Jay Mohr down on the sidelines and there is a bad call against the Cyclones. Who would go more nuts Coach or Jay. Nice interview. Hopefully someone can send Jay a Cyclone football jersey for him and his boy.

Isn't this a recruiting violation?
