just think, he was the #1 ranked center in last years class. A tall long shot blocker. Think anthony davis and Nerlens Noel.... drooling!
I'm thinking he's closer to Henriquez than he is Noel or Davis.

Rivals wouldn't rate him as the #1 center in the nation if he was "raw". He is a good ball player.

Yeah, that never happens. Wait, did someone mention Andre Drummond? And Drummond was more highly regarded comming out of high school.

Here is a clip from an evaluation
"Long Story Short: Lanky post player who shuts down the paint with his shot blocking due to his length and athleticism. Extremely raw offensive player with questionable effort and no post moves for a center, but has the tools to be great if he is committed to improving." "Final Thoughts:Norvel’s lack of development is what separates him from the elite players in the 2011 prep class. He is a naturally talented big man with incredible physical gifts, but solely reliant on athleticism in order to be effective. If he is a ‘one and done’ player, pending his freshman year in NCAA, he could be an NBA player who disappears into the obscure, never truly developing or reaching his true potential. A few years of college will greatly boost his game and should improve his stock, maybe even see him become a lottery pick if he is patient and puts in the arduous work to develop. No doubt that the potential is there, but the real question will be if he is committed to becoming better and developing his talent. " Again, his "rawness" is why you see rivals rating him 23rd in the nation and another site 77. Im not debating his potential but he probably has a ways to go to be a great player.

Does it bother anyone if ISU get the reputation of taking players that have zero chance of ever making any kind of academic progress while in school? I know there were some rumblings about such issues when Larry was here. Larry won league titles so he basically got a pass on the subject, although you heard more about it as his teams started to not perform as well.

not one little bit. Nobody expects basketball players to map the human genome.

This would be awesome for ISU basketball. Heard he's a little behind on the academics, but I could care less about that. Like someone else stated he will learn from Fred that school is important.

This is an interesting discussion. Based on my limited exposure to Pelle (watching the few vids that have been posted) he seems just as athletic as Noel. The difference may be in agressiveness on the defensive end.

From the vids it doesn't appear he has much of an offensive game in terms of face up or post moves (and this was mentioned in a player review capsule as well). But I could see him averaging 10+ ppg on just lobs and put backs.

I bet Georges would like playing with him next year... almost like having Noel beside him again.

I have a hard time believing that Pelle is a one and done player. He was rated as highly by scout and espn as he was by rivals, I think he was down around 70 or 80 on those services. He seems extremely raw and the evaluations are that he is atheletic and can block shots but is not a great rebounder, scorer, and lacks intensity.

With some work he could be great, but I just don't think he is one and done, unless he just doesn't want to be in college which might be the case if he struggles academically

Keep in mind the ultimate determination of whether or not he stays more than a year may have nothing to do with what his game looks like now versus what it could look like after 2-3 years in college developing an offensive game (side note, think if Georges' post moves rub off on him:swoon:) but more to do with what position he would likely be in the draft and how much money he would make to come out.
