With all due respect to the pep band, I really wish they'd stop with the stupid chants during free throws or whatever else. Nobody thinks they are funny or witty. They just sound really nerdy/awkward. I love when the band plays and I think they do a great job but their chants just really suck. I realize if people were cheering louder, they might not do it, but it still bothers me. Other than that, the band kicks ***.

You can either rail on the band OR cyclone alley but not both.

It's really boring at games. And we ARE nerds. We know they're stupid but god these games are so boring.

There were less than 100 students at Sunday's game. If you want better cheers, start them.

Hilariously, this was actually a big debate for several years amongst the band.

It still was until last year when it was 'decided' for us, by a marketing person in athletics, that black slacks would be official uniform. Horrible decision. Slacks looked good with the old unis, but the new ones work much better with jeans.

Man I'm glad I graduated this spring if that is going to happen. Because I wouldn't want to see the thread about 'the horrible baritone player' that would inevitably happen if I were still in the band. It would probably be either one post saying, 'yeah he's terrible' or it would reach 'planes on treadmills' proportions. I'd probably have to hold a press conference or two to get rid of all my negative press if that were the case.

I do know of a solution to threads about the entire band though. Blame the trumpets. Everything is their fault. Except when it is the trombone players' fault.

Seneca Wallace.

The only one I think is kinda funny is when they do block that kick. The others, if you can make out what they're saying, are not. You're right, most of the stuff they say does make me say WTF? but in a bad way. I prefer it just louder than hell with students pounding on chairs/the risers or what ever.

Padded chairs this year.

Sure the band is rebuilding this year. We all know that. But our participation is critical this year. We need to get attendance up as we need more money to finish the pep band practice facility. The Nadas were kind enough to step-up and donate the land along with some new instruments. Now we as fans have to do the rest. For better or worse, attracting top pep band talent has turned into a facilties war. It's not right but that is just the way it is. Time to Fan-up and show-up on Wednesday night at 7pm to support the pep band. Let's show the new members of the band what Hilton Magic is all about!

I'm glad I am not in band...I look fat in black.

I don't think games are boring at all. I don't need to chant to have fun at a game. Plus, I'd look pretty dumb starting cheers from $99 season ticket seats.

As funny as this post is (I lol'd) donating money to the music department is highly encouraged. The band can certainly use the money in a lot of different ways.

The fact of the matter is, until the NBA (National Band Association) changes its draft rules, it's going to be difficult for any upper-tier school to accumulate the band talent needed to keep a steady beat night in and night out. This is why we have recently seen better results from some of the mid-major bands. They may not be getting the five-star trumpet players, but they recruit kids that are a good fit for the music they are trying to play, have them take a redshirt year, develop them, and then by year 4 or 5 these kids are just waling on their instruments.

On the other hand, who can blame the kids that are leaving their undergraduate bands early, especially when they have the opportunity to be drafted and make upwards of five figures?

Were you at sunday's game? Without the band it would have been, literally, silent. Also, if you're unwilling to make yourself look stupid, be glad that we are.

You won't find a more spirited group of people (that are ready and willing to be judged for it) than the band.

Suggestions welcome. We're just trying to do our part.

Yea, I'm glad I graduated before that happened. It's like they started looking for ways to chip away at what made the ISU band fun, unique, and appealing.

Was anybody else absolutely freaking out when the Big XII all most disintergrated last June? We all most found ourselves in a crap conference with no funding for the pep band. Thank God the conference held together. I'm especially thankful, all of the Texas schools stayed in the conference. That's a real selling point for pep band recruiting. Most of the pep band talent is in Texas.

As long as somebody put a stop to singing disney songs during free throws, I'm pretty much ok with whatever. That was funny one-time but people took it too far. I think that was mostly a women's band thing though.

I was at Sunday's game and attendance was awful. I already gave you my suggestion.
