It sounds like Percy was a good student and a good teammate, so I wish him lots of success in the future. He struck me as a guy who was never especially bothered that he didn't play, so I am guessing he really enjoyed his time at Iowa State.
I wish the best for Percy, an exemplary citizen and hard working student. I think he wants to play basketball. I really think Fred's system wasn't the best for him.

Not surprised - but he's a good guy and I wish him luck wherever he lands. I think he'll do well!

Way up there
He originally committed to Dayton

IIRC he basically followed Matt A here? Nothing against the kid bc he always seemed to be positive but he didn't have any power conference offers before ISU offered. I don't think he was ever big 12 material (esp without a RS year). Good luck to him wherever he lands. A RS could be great for Percy if he takes advantage of it. It'll be interesting to see where this schollie goes.

I agree this makes things interesting with who we pursue. Provided we take in a slasher type for one. Im hoping we take in one post player above 6'8 and the other take the best talent available (Huff would definitely fill that requirement).

At the least they need a couple big bodies to replace Gibson and Ellerman in practice. Can't have a scout team with all guards! A transfer big would be perfect.

Please enlighten me on what you're rolling your eyes about. Thanks.

I am rolling my eyes about this...

Depends on what you define as "hearing anything bad about him". Certainly not from a morality standpoint. Coaching staff tried to light a fire under his butt multiple times though. He just had a really bad work ethic from a basketball standpoint. They tried to fix it and couldn't. Some kids just don't love the sport. It's not for everyone. Royce is a good example. Royce just happened to be 100x more talented than PG. Neither one really likes bball though

How do you know any of this? Who are you to judge Percy's love of basketball? It isn't like he is quitting basketball, as far as we know. He is transferring somewhere else to play. So what makes you an expert on Percy's love of the game?

I am rolling my eyes because there always has to be one that puts down a kid in a situation like this. Just wish him best and move on. No need for this statement.

And, you are welcome.

Percy should NOT be put down. He played hard. He got good grades. It just didn't work out as far as playing time.

Best of luck to him. Just a kid that didn't pan out. He was one of this staffs first Freshman recruits.

As for him not fitting in the system. If he had something to offer Fred would have found a way to use him, he just didn't develop and progress along the way.

Agreed. Always a positive kid, worked hard, and did nothing wrong. I'm ok with him ending his career with PT somewhere.

Remember, all these guys run the same sprints the starters run and scout in practice....without much if any glory.

Agreed. The kid just wasn't a good fit for ISU and Fred. It is what it is and I wish him nothing but the best in life. I hope he averages a double double for the MAC champions in 2015-16 and plays in the tourney.
