Our shih tzu shows love, affection, contentment when snuggling with us by yawning really big and making an audible sound while doing so. It is super cute. I told my wife that this a Charlie showing us how much he loves us and she was unconvinced so I Googled it and it is very much a thing.

There's a vet in Keokuk whose message sign recently read "Your pets will love our vets. We shih tzu not."

My biggest gripe about our Goldendoodle is that he is barky at other people and general other human activity. We live at the top of a circular cul-de-sac and we have big front livingroom windows which go almost ceiling to the floor. That makes for very visible viewing of our entire street so any human activity or cars coming in or out of the cul-de-sac lead to a lot of barking. It gets really bad when any of the neighbors have company over and they are entertaining outside.

Lost my girl Cy 3 weeks ago! I’m heart broken. She lived 17 years and 7 month, and yes, I know how lucky I am!! Miss her so very much! Hug your furbabies if you have them. First time in 30 years I haven’t had a dog.

I literally love my two dogs like family. That's coming from someone who has five children and two grandchildren. I'm not saying that I love my dogs more than my children or grandchildren, but I do love my dogs the same sort of way. I'm 100% sure that I would risk my own life to save either of them (house fire, gorilla or tiger attack or other unlikely event). I just look at my dogs and I see a real connection. I'm almost fully sure that they totally understand human feeling and feel the same way back to me as far as caring and love. I'm not saying this is a dog only thing as I'm sure others feel the same way with cats or other pets. Just holding my Goldendoodle now and watch him look at me made me thought to gush, I'm sure he "gets" me.
I don't have any pets, but if I did, it would be a cat. Dogs beg for attention too much to suit me and want to jump all over you and lick you. Cats can take you or leave you. But as far as pet ownership goes, I defer to the George Carlin philosophy on the subject. He says pet owners are just setting themselves up for heartache because you're going to be losing your best friend every 7-12 years and you go into this relationship fully realizing that, but do it anyway.

Carlin is right. OTOH - there's nothing like falling asleep with your cat purring loudly above your head. I sometimes have trouble sleeping when we're traveling because of this. I have had a furry pet since I was 3 years old and my family got our standard dachshund, Scamper. Critters make our lives richer, IMO.

Ours is barky too, but he’s pretty good about responding to the no bark command. Any more he’s perfectly happy to be my grilling buddy and watch over things while we sit outside.

I love other people's animals, but i'm entirely over "our" pets.

Our cats wake us up in the night more than the kids ever did and **** in a box downstairs that smells. The dog ruins our carpet. We pay for all of this to happen to us.

I'm not a fan.

We have two litterbots, one upstairs and one on the main floor. They look like cement mixers. They're triggered by weight changes. When the cat leaves anything behind, the bot waits several minutes then the drum cycles. Free litter is screened out, the waste is dropped into an lined drawer underneath, then the drum cycles back to the regular position, allowing the rest of the litter to slide back in. No scooping, almost no odor. Kind of pricey (but they last a long time...ours are 4 & 6 years old), and maybe a little large, but they don't take up much more real estate than a regular litter box. I recommend them to anyone with multiple indoor cats.
