I hate when people use smilies or say LOL every text you get.

I hate when I repeat myself 3 times, because they weren't listening the first time.

I hate when those sale commericals come on, and they "But if you call in the next 10 minuets we will double you offer"

I also hate PeOpLe WhO tYpE LiKe ThIs

:biglaugh: LOL YoU aRe A fUnNy GuY.:wideeyed::notworthy::yes::wink::smile::chatterbox:

People that say irregardless! Do the people that say this realize it's not a word and if they think about what they are trying to say, regardless means the same thing!

People who say or write "utilize" instead of "use" because they think it sounds more sophistimacated or formal. If they were selling cars they'd have a big sign, "UTILIZED CARS"

Biggest pet peeve...
Drivers who zoom by you in a lane that is closing or ending, and then want to merge in. You do realize that if everyone merged at the proper time all the traffic could move faster, but no we have to wait for your *** to merge in which is why we weren't moving as fast as you needed to go.

People who camp out in the left lane on 35\80 going east, presumably because theyre heading north, but get there and camp out all the way back in west des moines (why did they not add another lane going north when they redid that interchange...)

ohh, i hate that too. we could all stay at the posted speed through those zones if everyone would just merge at earliest convenience, as opposed to slowing down to 5mph.

It absolutely drives me nuts when people show up sick to work or show up to work and talk about how sick they are.
Don't show up to act like a tough guy. No one cares. What we care about is you not getting us sick.

Ah yes, the 235 on-ramp @ 6th St. Another month and I will move to our new WDM building and can say goodbye to the freeway.

I'm not a big fan of saying "we" when referring to your sports team. I graduated from Iowa State and have had a job with the school, so I think "we" is fine, but I will never say "we" when referring to the Avs or Bucs.

Quite a few posts specifically referred to language/writing.

It's easier to do pet peeves in categories, so I'll stick to languate-related. I have more of those than almost anything else.

To reiterate or expand on some other posts:
your/you're
it's/its
their/there/they're
Non-existent words like their's/her's

Some non-pronoun gripes:
A. than/then
B. Hypercorrection, such as incorrect use of "I" as an object ("They rode with my mom and I"). Sometimes, the same person would also say, "Me and Betty went to the store."
C:
PEOPLE WHO WRITE EXTENSIVELY AND EXCLUSIVELY IN ALL-CAPS WHICH IS AKIN TO SHOUTING IN TEXT USUALLY FOR NO GOOD REASON AND I'M NOT JUST TALKING ABOUT MESSAGE BOARDS BECAUSE I'VE SEEN IT OTHER PLACES TOO LIKE LETTERS TO THE EDITOR AT NEWSPAPERS WHERE I HAVE WORKED IT'S AS IF THE CAPS BUTTON ON THE PERSON'S KEYBOARDS HAS MALFUNCTIONED AND SOMETIMES YOU GET A BONUS WHEN IT'S ALL WRITTEN AS ONE SENTENCE AS IF PERIODS DON'T EXIST AND THE WRITER WON'T EVEN USE AN OCCASIONAL COMMA AND WHEN IT FINALLY ENDS THERE'S AN EXCLAMATION POINT OR MORE LIKELY SEVERAL OF THEM!!!

****
I'll stop with that, OTHERWISE I'LL GO ON FOREVER!!!

As I started reading this thread... the pet peeves took place in the winter.
It made me think of mine...
The city is out plowing the streets... I get my vehicles off the road so the "curb parking" can get plowed nicely in front of my house. Then some idiot decides to park in front of my house! (I have no idea where the car came from) and it sure leaves a nice mess that takes a 4x4 just to park out there!

I have two:

-I can't stand when people say "soda." It's POP.
-I'm from Waterloo/ Cedar Falls and it irks me to no end when people from Iowa say "WATERloo" instead of "waterLOO." I know the Belgian city is "WATERloo," but you're from Iowa, know it's "waterLOO."

I thought it was WALOO

Or people that don't know what acronyms stand for:

"PIN number" = Personal Identification Number number
"MSDS sheets" = Material Safety Data Sheet sheet
