You'll have a million people recommend Pardon My Take but its trash.

This Past Weekend and The King and the Sting are amazing. Joe Rogan isnt bad either.
I listen to PMT, so I'm interested to hear why you dislike it so much. Like you said, a bunch of my friends listen to it, so I'd love to hear the other side of it.

Gives me too much of a fratty vibe, I don't find either of the hosts interesting or funny but ultimately it doesn't keep my attention. I've never understood the appeal and I did give multiple episodes a try, but quite a few of my friends enjoy so maybe I'm just a nerd.

Understandable. There are certain segments of the show that are easy for me to tune out, but also segments I find myself laughing at constantly. The interviews are what puts it over the top for me. Most of the guests open up in a forum you don't see such cut and dry Q and A, and get some candid answers.

Edit: Just someone recently was Brooks Koepka. Knew nothing about him, and he really seems like a regular dude who just happens to be uber talented at golf.

The LeBetard and Friends network (ESPN spinoffs) is starting to get good. Marty Smith's America the podcast is pretty good. Also, The Mina Kimes Show podcast is pretty good. I wanted to like Stu-podity, but he just isn't as good of a host as he is a sidekick.

If you haven't caught Conan O'Brien Needs a Friend, it is outstanding. I caught a couple of recent episodes and then just went back and started at the beginning. I even listen to the ones with guests I'm not that interested in because the banter is just so great.

If there are any space nerds and history buffs out there, BBC’s “13 Minutes to the Moon” is an excellent podcast on all aspects of the Apollo missions. Hans Zimmer did the music, and it is very well produced and formatted. They are on Episode 5 out of 11 (I think) so far.

Fun fact, Iowa State alum Steve Bales was GUIDO for Apollo 11, and made the call on the 1202/1201 alarms on descent.
Thank you. I am a podcast addict and listened to all the episodes in this one. As a former flight control engineer (business jets, heavy turboprops and regional aircraft) that designed autopilots and managed the flight control department I found this very interesting. I was not aware of the Iowa State connection.

I know my company was proud that Neil Armstrong's famous words were sent over our radios. The podcast talked about some issues with communication on this mission. I wonder if my company's equipment was at the heart of those issues or if that was a different set of radios.

These are quite good. I've listened to them all which included multiple guests that I had ZERO interest in. They were still good.

Conan is quite talented. I can't do late night talk shows but he's good in this format.

-- Star Talk Radio with Neil deGrasse Tyson has some pretty good stuff.
-- Heartland College Sports has good B12 content

Not many episodes yet, but I really like the Missing in the Metro podcast Ross and Heather from KXNO do with DMPD Sgt. Paul Parizik. Opens up some interesting information about cold case files in Des Moines and gives some insight into the behind the scenes workings of the DMPD.

I've really changed my podcast preferences in the last 6 months because of guys like Joe Rogan. I've stopped listening to overtly one-sided shows (like Pod Save America, which I recommended earlier in this thread). I mostly listen to non-political shows, or shows that aren't intended to political, like Rogan and some episodes of Dave Rubin's show. I just like listening to people talk about ideas rather than debating stupid political events or telling you why the "other side" is evil.
I agree. I can't handle echo-chamber political podcasts. Even when I generally agree with them.

I always thought Ms Pat was funny but this podcast with Joe Rogan is the funniest thing I’ve listened to in a long time. She’s got a wild history to her too.

I've been looking for a political podcast but agree with both of you that the echo chamber ones are not worth it. Anybody know of any that are neutral? Maybe with a liberal and conservative host or something?

I'd love to know as well. Nobody is truly unbiased but I'd love to hear somebody close.

I have one for you. It's called The Argument and is by the (fake news) New York Times. They have contributors from both sides, and manage to discuss issues rationally.

I don't know of any that are neutral--at least not truly so.

Dan Carlin had one called "Common Sense", but he has stopped putting them out (his Hardcore History stuff is more popular and I think he feels like the current political client is in some ways unprecedented to the point where he was questioning whether he has much to add). He is by no means a centrist--he is fairly left of center on civil rights and personal liberties, but he definitely didn't drink RNC or DNC kool-aid. So this doesn't really help you at all, except that some of his old shows are interesting.

https://www.dancarlin.com/common-sense-home-landing-page/

There may have been better podcasts done on the topic, but I think "Unhealthy Numbers" (which was released 3/15/17) and looked at the US health care system, was especially good in that it didn't go down the typical party-dominated discussion points. In the end, he advocates single-payer.

But I understand if you aren't interested in 2 year old political podcasts.
