Discussion would only be prohibited on that specific thread. I'm not sure how people are equating this with censorship. It is simply a method of sorting and categorizing information to make it easier to find quickly.

I like the idea a little bit. Yet, I think it is a bit redundant. It could also foster gossip about things that we don't know the whole story to before there is time for the facts to come out.

Pros:
News links in one thread (should be quick to find)
Could sticky the news thread to each forum topic i.e. MBB; WBB; FB; VB

Cons:
News thread becomes it's own mega thread and hard to look through
The thread would get buried by the discussion threads so it would take the extra time to dig and find it
Threads could become the center of gossip about players for those that stalk their Facebook; twitter, ect...
It could project inaccurate facts about situations before more could be known leading to massive CF meltdown.

First thread gets killed off. Should have seen this one coming, but somehow I thought it was over. Nice to be back, I think.

It could give us more information about things to lean about like details of what actually happens at a camp, or for kids event....

News thread becomes it's own mega thread and hard to look through
The thread would get buried by the discussion threads so it would take the extra time to dig and find it

but I think most of us can agree that cat GIF's and Spiderman memes are not newsworthy.

People may ignore it and just look at the discussion thread about it (faster, easier to find)

I like this idea. I don't check CF or twitter every day and so when I do there are probably several news items that have dropped off the first page that I missed. This would be a nice place to go get caught up.

Pointless to have it as a thread. Already served by CF in other areas in the form of the CF front page or in link-dump type stories CW posts on there.

People have bad ideas every single day. Those who are able to cope with the fact that their idea was horrible and move on with life will be successful. Those who try and convince everyone that their bad idea is a good idea will fail.

I think I understand what's happening: this guy only likes Cy. I don't know about you but I flat out love Cy. In fact, my balls are hard for Cy. That's why his idea is a flop.

I like how the poll has 3 answers that could be used to say "see? This will work! People want this!" and 1 to point out how redundant, inefficient, and in the end, pretty dumb.

There is one way that I could see the thread being purposeful. If it was pinned, and locked so that only moderators could add to it. However, all that does is add one more job for someone else to do on a free site. Even then, you have just a few people being able to contribute to the thread. Or, you create even more work for moderators and having to clean up the mess you created if you let just anybody post in the thread because it will end up derailed because of people like me.

Pros:
News links in one thread (should be quick to find) Best for people who don't spend countless hours, which does not include anyone posting against this idea in this thread because they all live on here.
Could sticky the news thread to each forum topic i.e. MBB; WBB; FB; VB Should be easy.

Cons:
News thread becomes it's own mega thread and hard to look through Not hard to look through, you just start up where you left off and don't have a bunch of worthless posts in between
The thread would get buried by the discussion threads so it would take the extra time to dig and find it Easily solved by a sticky, or a bump each time it is modified
Threads could become the center of gossip about players for those that stalk their Facebook; twitter, ect. This happens already anyway
It could project inaccurate facts about situations before more could be known leading to massive CF meltdown. This happens already anyway
People may ignore it and just look at the discussion thread about it (faster, easier to find) If it is stickied, this thread would be easy to find. If it is bumped to top with each addition, this would be easy to find.

Twitter, CF, and Google don't accomplish what I would like to get from this type of thread. There's too much crap on all of those, and CW doesn't post every ISU related item out there. I follow some of the recruiting guys and players but there's so much stuff on there I don't want to read through, and the same is true of CF threads. If there was a closed thread or something on the CF front page that was just a link and short description, I see a lot of value added there. Have one person be allowed to update, and people can submit news or that person can compile them as they are posted. CF/Twitter doesn't show all information gathered into one spot without all the bs.
