Mine changed to end of season. Won't be super POed if he gets next year (which is where I voted last time) but as much as I like him and really want him to succeed, I just don't see it anymore.

I think he should be fired because this is a big business and he deserves about 40k per year right now the way the team is performing and not 2 million. Not sure if JP can afford not to fire him at this point. But if fans keep showing up like crazy, he might just keep him around.

The other question that probably should be asked is..... does anyone feel it will matter next year if he is fired?

Also... if we're going to just promote Mangino to head coach, then I'd rather just keep Rhoads. If we're going to clean house, let's clean house. I want all new everything. Mangino has been a HUGE (pardon the pun) disappointment right along with Wally and Rhoads IMO.

Here nor there
I have no faith he can develop the young guys on the roster. Time to give someone else a shot.

We have nothing to lose. Fire him after the year.

This is the key issue.
It sucks to get whipped by KU, but we are young and injured. The problem is, what do we have to go on that suggests a majority of players get better as they get older? The offense has been a stagnant turd for almost 6 years. Mangino and Co? If so, why not just hire him as head coach? It is clear just how inept the staff was on that side of the ball. Of course, it does not help our OL thought they "had this" while getting bent over every week.

I don't think it will matter next year or may years after that. With the current set up of our conference affiliation coupled with decades of futility I'm pretty sure we're not ever going to be "good". Unless some kind of local boy-turned player-turned alumni-turned coaching Wunderkind comes down the pipe of course.

I want to change my answer from wait until next year to fire him now. Don't even wait until the end of the season. If Paul's not done coaching Monday, Wally better be.

This. I have not been impressed with any of the players that have had to come in due to injury except for Lazard, who didn't really have to be developed because he was a stud coming in. How can you not have players at this level so overmatched? It blows my mind.

And get who as a replacement? You guys are delusional.
You're right. Jamie should just give him a lifetime contract and when he dies, they should just fold up the program because, like you said, who are they going to get?

Almost anyone. Hire a decent FCS coach for 200k, spend some of the savings on better assistants, and give the rest to the MBB program.

A lot of people might laugh at this, but seriously, can some FCS coach do any worse? Jim Harbaugh was at San Diego not that long ago.... not San Diego State.

Heck, you could offer someone 500k per year and still be 1.5 million less than what Rhoads makes.
