Not putting this on KU by any means, but I think it's ridiculous that teams can prevent a player from going to certain schools if they decide to transfer. They shouldn't get any say. The debacle with Uthoff and Wisc was just embarrassing.

I think it is reasonable to not allow them to go to conference schools or schools on your schedule.

Can coaches or AD's go to schools within their league? Why couldn't a player who has been recruited over?

There are 2 columns on this stat sheet that should tell everyone that we aren't going to go for him, and I'll give you a hint, they are right next to each other and I bolded them.

Are you aware that Jameel McKay shot a whopping 0% from 3 at Indian Hills?

We signed Edozie and Percy who don't shoot the 3. We are recruiting some other post players that aren't 3 pt shooters.

Exactly, do we need 3 of these guys on the team? They serve a purpose but they are never going to be a major cog because they don't have to be respected from deep. That's Hoiball, snort.

I don't think 3pt shooting would have anything to do with them wanting or not wanting him...they need some post scoring...and someone who shoots 50% from the field and averages 8.6 rebounds a game would be hard to pass up.

They have another scholly to pick up another 3 pt shooter.

Most Kansas fans feel that an Andrew White III transfer is virtually inevitable. He wouldn't be available next year but was a Top 50 recruit who will be a very good player given some minutes. I'd hate to see him go in conference and not sure KU would even allow it, but who knows? I hope the kid gets some minutes somewhere. Seems like a nice young man.

There is no way in hell Bill Self is letting a kid transfer from KU to Iowa State.

I think Edozie will get some more minutes next year as defensive guy. If he can just improve his ball skills he can contribute a decent amount. He's a team guy.

Just a reminder of how things have gone in the past.......you can't always believe what you read...here are a couple of portions of an ESPN.com article published in May about the players who had made an "early" decision about where they were headed.

DeAndre Kane, 6-4, G, Sr. (can play immediately)
From: Marshall
To: Pittsburgh

Marshall was supposed to compete for the C-USA title last season, but instead the Thundering Herd fell all the way off the face of the Earth, finishing a baffling 13-19 after 2011-12's solid campaign. Whatever happened to the Herd -- and DeAndre Kane may have been culpable for a portion of it, as he was essentially dismissed by Marshall coach Tom Herrion this spring* -- it's a nice pickup for Pitt along the way. Kane has never been a particularly good shooter, but is tough and hard-nosed and rebounds well for his position, and last season he dropped a dime on 42.0 percent of his possession, ninth-best in the country. All in all, it seems to be a good fit, though guards with sub-100 offensive ratings don't typically see the floor at Pitt.

Abdel Nader, 6-7, F, Soph.
From: Northern Illinois
To: Iowa State

No program in the country has made better use of transfers in the past two seasons than Iowa State. Nader was the best player on a really bad Northern Illinois team. Iowa State is losing a wave of seniors and needs a forward to pair with Georges Niang. It all sounds great, right? Just one problem: It's hard to tell if Nader is a diamond in the rough or merely the best player on an atrocious team. To wit, Nader's offensive rating in 2012-13 was 80.4; even Hinds thinks that's inefficient. Then again, some inefficiency is to be expected when you -- get this -- lead the nation in both usage rate (36.9 percent) and shot rate (42.1) on a team that finishes the season 5-25. I have no idea how this is going to go, but it's one to watch.

On top of this, don't forget that McKay originally went to Marquette before settling on ISU.

I guess I'm just saying that I think the one thread is a good idea, because things change. Put all the information and discussion in one place until we know that ISU is definitely pursuing someone......which of course we may never know until they actually sign.

Really interesting read on Kane to Pitt.

The only thing we know for sure is that like the Honey Badger, Hoiball "takes what it wants".

Are you guys serious? He would be a lock to start the first semester. Right now we return the following posts: Georges.
Georges is not exactly known for defense and rebounding. Second semester we would actually have 3 posts for the 80 minutes. We have been gravely thin in the frontcourt this year, and have lost games because of it. Get this guy and Hogue and Nader can play their natural positions, or when the match-up is favorable.

Getting a guy like Lee and a combo guard like Bryce DeJean-Jones is exactly what we need.

We had to sweat things out when Ejim and Niang got into foul trouble.
I think if you are going to consistently beat the KU's of the world you gotta have a deep front line.

Realistically if you were to get this guy, you have 3 guys to fill center/power forward position. 1 of which does not join the team til late December.

The kids family lives in the Quad Cities, it would not surprise me if things were in motion on this one already. At least from an inquiry standpoint.

Fred is the kind of guy who will design offense around the players.

Even he was 100% positive he was going there, until he got there for a visit and they hardly even acknowledged him.

Don't be stupid. Anthony Lee is not the same as Percy or Edozie. He averaged 13 and 8. Give me a break.

While Hoiberg has said many times that he likes recruiting guys who are athletic, versatile, can shoot the 3, and can play multiple positons, and while our fans continue to knock him for not bringing in enough big post players, Hoiberg has said MULTIPLE times that his recruiting is simple.... His plan is to bring in the best players available, regardless of their position and where he gets them from. This trumps EVERTHING. Also, isn't his past 4 years an exact testment to this too? Therefore, whenever I see a really good player available, wherever they may be coming from or whatever position they happen to play, I know Fred is strongly considering them.

Lastly, if it means anything, I totally agree with all of the above and it is also the reason why he might be the hottest name in coaching right now.

This exactly.
