I have full confidence in CFR. We have plenty of depth and ballhandlers and shooters. We have a long non conference season to work out problems. We will be fine. If we have another good season this year, having CFR as coach will give us a better pre season ranking in the future. Pollsters will come to expect CFR to have good teams.

We lost our top 3 scorers, our 2 best 3 point shooters. People don't know how the team will gel. I myself am not worried but we're obviously not going to get votes for the top 25. As long as we don't have any hiccups at the beginning of the season like we did last year and get the opportunity to play UNLV and win, then we will see the votes come.

Losing Royce, Scotty and Allen is a big loss from last year's team. We have a lot of guys who are going to need to take on bigger roles than they previously have, so not a shock that we didn't receive any votes. Last season's success should help us get in the polls quicker this year if we get off to a good start.

Last year they got off to a slow start even though they were on campus and practicing the previous year. No reason for me to believe this year will be different in this reguard.

I feel like sooner or later, with as much "we don't get no respect" type attitude as we see from ISU fans, the fanbase is going to get a Rodney Dangerfield reputation. Ubben, basketball polls, football polls, eastern Iowa newspaper columnists, even Buffalo Wild Wings.

ISU not getting any votes? Do all voters think last year was all about Royce? Color me Cardinal and Gold, but, I expect our FH team to be in the Dance every year and to challenge for a Sweet Sixteen spot.

We should not be getting votes, lost 80% of our scoring and 75% of our asissts. We have nothing but questionmarks right now. The good thing is that preseason polls are worthless.

I reluctantly agree with you.

I thought ISU would get some votes but not getting into the top 25 can add a little fire to the team. Sometimes having that chip on your shoulder helps you fight through the tough times in games and Fred Hoiberg can use that to motivate the team. It's kind of like last year that the top 25 will prove it in the games played. Pre season polls always have the same 10-15 teams put in them that are expected to be good whether they are or not. If pre season polls were correct Notre Dame would have multiple NC in football every year. I wonder how that worked for them.

I think there are a lot of good points in this thread but I would ask this. What did the 25 schools in the poll lose from last year? There is no way most of them didn't lose a good chunk of their scoring threats too. So to me I think it's fair to say the pollsters don't give us a fair shake and just say "well it's UNC so of course their new players who haven't seen a minute of court time must be good".

I think we just dont have the tradition of being a respectable basketball team, rather than taking an objective look at what other teams have lost.

That attitude is earned over time.

...I can't believe how some of you are really underestimating Korie Lucious. Like he's never set foot on a court before.
(Newsflash: ...while at Mich. St. the man has played in 2 final fours.)

Exactly. respect is earned, not given, and CFH's program hasn't yet established a "history". Matter of fact, even if we make a run and wind up in the top 25 again this year, I wouldn't expect to be ranked in the preseason at this time a year from now.
