If this statement is true, it is a sad statement for ISU Football. Rohach has been the second string QB since the start of spring practice. ISU's second string QB should be ready to play and expect to play the first game every year. ISU's first football game should be an easy game that should allow a lot of second string players to gain experience. Additionally, any second string player should be ready in any game if the starter is hurt or even loses their helmet. Unfortunately, ISU could not win its first game and the starters had to play the whole game. Compare Texas Tech's two top quarterbacks with ISU's. Tech's starter this year was a true freshman walk-on and their next QB is a redshirt freshman, the same as Rohach. Tech started winning right off with a true freshman, who had not attended spring practice. He was somehow ready for their first game and they won every game he started. Their second string started his first game against ISU and in his first two starts has thrown for more than 400 yards each game. Why are Tech's QB's ready to play and Rohach was not ready to play the second game of the season. Another thing is that Tech's coaching staff has been there less than a year and ISU's staff has been in place for more than 4 years. The problem seems to come down to coaching. ISU's coaches are not getting our back-up QB's ready to play. Are they spending all of their time with the starter? I do not know. I just know that it reflects poorly on the coaches, if the second string players are not ready to play.
