I think that nothing will be easy about this game. Purdue was ranked for most if not all the regular season, for a reason. I still think we win, but it's going to be a dogfight. If you get to the second (3rd) round of the dance, everyone you play is going to be good.

Our fans should be game planning for Purdue. I guess we're probably going to lose since we're focused on comments from Iowa fans. Damn...

I never used the term gameplan.

Simply surprised the amount of discussion that comments from a few Iowa fans on the Purdue board is generating.

Carry on.

I've never seen a man fall as hard to the floor as Haas does. Every time he falls its as if he doesn't know how to support a fall, he just slams into the ground

Lot of Iowa talk in this thread.

Your team is playing for a 3rd Sweet 16 berth in 4 years and you are concerned with what idiotic Iowa fans are saying on a Purdue message board?

Doesnt make sense to me.

I agree with you, however, it's MUCH more pathetic that Iowa fans (who's team isn't even in the tournament) are over on the Purdue board talking trash about ISU.

ISU fans are just defending themselves against such idiocy, that's all.

Out of the mouths of Hawks.

(but seriously he is 100% correct)

Purdue is good, strength is in the front court (of course they have capable guards as well). I think if we are patient in the half court (work it around and get good shots) and locked in focused on D (with good game plan) we will have a decent shot at the win here. ISU is a veteran-led team and I think we will do the things I mentioned above.

Totally agree with you. This game will not be easy at all. Either team can win, no doubt. We'll have to play better than we did last night IMO to pull out a win, but we can do that.

Purdue won the B1G. Granted the B1G was way down this year, but that's still a really good season for them.

Guys, its a message board. We aren't professional representatives of Iowa State University. This is for fun and it is fun to make fun of Homer Hawks. I don't think Steve Prohm is reading our comments looking for nuggets to add to his game plan against Purdue. I know I'm not alone when I say I have grown very fond of these young men over the last 4-5 years and I take it personally when people insult their character because anybody who knows any of these guys knows how high character they are. Good athletes, good students, and even better young men. That being said its all in good fun. I live in Eastern Iowa and I'm constantly immersed in homerisms. So yeah I take my shots when I can ;)

The vibe I got from reading their board is that a lot of them aren't too confident. Not sure how I feel yet about the matchup. Just worried Swanigan could really go off

We've played teams with as good as or better bigs than Purdue. Gonzaga's and Baylor's bigs weren't exactly shabby. I think they'll have to go small to keep up.

I wouldn't discount Haas. The mins I watch he was dominating. If he got the ball down low they couldn't stop him. He'd either score or get fouled and he made the FT's.

Haas is slow, clumsy, and can't finish at the rim. Yes he makes free throws and I think our ability to stay out of foul trouble will be important. He didn't score until the second half against Vermont and although he had opportunities around the rim he almost always missed them. I don't think anybody is discounting him, but with Haas and Swannigan both on the floor? Advantage: Cyclones. Let's not forget ISU >>> Vermont. Our guards will shred those big oak trees in the paint.

Gotta break down that Michigan game tape. Haas isn't that great and misses bunnies. I don't think he plays that much. My money is on Burton having another
Vermont had a lot of open chances from 3 and jumpers, we will just need to take advantage of him.

Burton has regressed a bit as he is hesitating on his 3 pt shot. He needs to just shoot it when open. That will really open up the driving lanes.

I'm actually less worried about Purdue vs Nevada for some reason.

You know what is sadder than Clone fans talking about all the squawk trolls they encountered when trying to interact with Purdue fans on a Purdue board in an ISU thread? It's squawk fans that are on a Cyclone board in a thread about the upcoming Purdue/ISU game rather than talking with their own about their own team's march to a "National Championship".

Purdue may very be the last B1G team standing by the time we face them Saturday night.

I enjoyed reading how ignorant they are about us. Too bad their coach will be better informed. Either way we will run their big slow butts into the ground. ISU by 15.

Maybe it's just because it's St. Patrick's Day but "Biggie Swanigan" sounds like one of those Irish goons with brass knuckles and a billy club who would kick your ass out in the street in some Martin Scorsese movie.

I am sort of relieved he looks like this guy:

...instead of this guy:

2nd round. The play in games should properly be termed the 0th round of the tournament.
