Lot of Iowa talk in this thread.... you are concerned with what idiotic Iowa fans are saying on a Purdue message board?
Doesnt make sense to me.

Agree it doesn't make sense. Sort of like a hok fan coming on a Cyclone board to comment on Iowa State's next NCAA game.

Random comment, but can we get some decent out of bounds plays? I watch a lot of games, and I never see a team struggle so much to get open. Are we trying to score? Are we trying to just get it in? I don't care either way, but we run everything half assed. That steal was a huge moment in the game last night.

Again, I provided my thoughts on Purdue on Page 4 of this thread having watched a lot of them this season as well as watching a lot of ISU games.

I thought I could provide some insight on the type of team you would be facing tomorrow.

Some people found the post informative, I am sorry if you did not.

I've been thinking they've improved on scoring off of inbounds plays recently. Seems like that play for the Naz corner 3 has been working well.

My scouting report is as follows: on defense, solid perimeter defense, only double on the bigs with another inside guy, do not double from the outside, block out. We can't let them get a bunch of inside/outside looks as they are very good shooters. On offense, make them play defense. Try to get some switches with Burton being guarded by a big and no early shots.
I think it's a close game if we play tough outside. They are not going to go on a run by pounding it inside. We don't want a string of threes . Hit a fair % of threes and we win.

Boiler fan here. Look forward to a good game tomorrow night. You guys have a great team and I'm concerned about us matching up with your guard play. I have great respect for what you've accomplished this year. But in reading through some posts on here, there are some of you who seem to think Purdue is slow and unathletic, and will be an easy win for you. Some even saying "F@@@ Purdue". I think you're greatly underestimating what it took for Purdue to win the Big Ten Conf, even in a down year. I'm not saying Purdue will win. But I also hope you respect Purdue enough to know it will not be a cakewalk for you either. We have two very athletic guards in Thompson and Edwards, along with Mathias, who some considered the B1G DPOY. All of them shoot the 3 very well. You all know about Swanigan. Some of you have been bashing our 7'2" center Haas. He's not the most athletic, but if he gets the ball deep in the paint, more often than not, you can count it. Again, I hope it's a great game tomorrow and I wish the Iowa State team the best of luck, especially if you move on to the Sweet 16.

The %$#@ Purdue thing is kind of an inside joke here so don't take it personally. I do think people are underestimating your guard play though.

Question for you: Swanigan is huge. How would you rate the finesse/athleticism of his game? He he mostly brute force?

He can shoot from anywhere on the court. Great turnaround jumper from 10 feet or so. Not the kind of guy who will drive from the perimeter and finish. Incredible skill under the basket and more athletic than you might expect in protecting the basket on D. Not a shot blocker, but can do it as you saw at the end of the game last night. Prone to turnovers at times. Hope that answers your question.

I have been telling the Clone fans, you don't just win the regular season championship in a P5 conference by being average. Hope the Clones come to play and consider themselves underdogs in this game.

And in your case, you don't win the Big 12 tourney and beat Kansas at their place by being average. This will be an interesting game. I just hope the Purdue team shows up ready to play. IMO this is a pick em game, which is what I think Vegas is saying.

This games seems like it could go one of two ways. ISU v ND or ISU v uva. Obviously hoping for the former.

Thanks. From our perspective, I think that's a better matchup than if he was a more athletic big. While not very tall, Solomon and Burton are thick guys that can play physical defense. I'm sure he'll probably just shred us on the boards though if not in addition to scoring.

I think most likely outcome is neither. ISU controlled the game vs. ND in 2013. UVA controlled the game vs. ISU last year. I think neither team will control the game tomorrow. A bunch of lead changes and it comes down to the wire.

Not sure what you mean by that, but if I'm reading into it correctly, I would guess you're one of the Cyclone fans who think you've already won the game.

Mocking his efforts to ingratiate himself by telling you that he's been telling those Cyclone fans about Purdue's virtues, I brought this along:

I felt Vidkund Quisling would be too obscure. I also don't think your guys can keep up when the pace increases.

I was impressed by Burton. Very athletic. Reminds me a little of Roosevelt Jones from the Butler team a couple of years ago. Plays much bigger than his height.
