Plenty of blame to go around, but the o-line is playing below average which is the biggest issue right now for the offense.
It’s below average because Purdy and this offense are easy to defend.

We have one player, maybe two, that can succeed on their own. The rest need Manning to have a good day.

I do think the line has got a bit better every week. If they keep improving, and get to the high level we all kind of expected, it will make a HGUE difference to Brock, Breece and the overall offense production.

Purdy has a great arm. His ball placement and accuracy is elite. There's a reason he's the reigning best QB in the Big 12 voted on by the coaches

I’m going to need you to dial it back about 20-30%. Purdy does not have a great arm, he has a fairly good arm, but not great. He has a high accuracy number because our routes are not long. Short passes equal higher completions.

He is a pretty darn good, but he has his limitations as we’ve seen.

His ball placement on those short passes is why he has a great arm and also our routes are pretty similar to every other team in CFB

He’s an an average game manger QB on a team with an elite RB and very good defense. Prone to making mistakes and limits what the OC can do.
Right now he’s closer to being just a middle of the road QB than he is a difference maker. Somewhat by design imo

I'll never forget the incomplete pass Rattler put on the money to his tight end during the CCG last year. He was running for his life and dropped it exactly where he wanted to 30+ yards downfield and it should have been caught. My god, that's why people see him as a #1 overall pick. I can't think of any pro who can do that right now (I'm not as big of an NFL fan, so I'm sure that guy exists, I just can't think of him).

#2 he flips it sidearm and throws it 50 yards. Just nuts.

Well there is 'that' guy!
Yup, absolutely. Spencer Rattler and Patrick Mahomes are the only 2 dudes I can think of at the moment that can do that. Russell Wilson comes to mind too but I'm not sure if he's quite there.

Regardless, Purdy is not nor will ever be them.

Yet he was voted best QB in a conference known for producing top QBs by Big 12 coaches last year

Purdy might be off a bit this year but it could be worse... it could be so much worse...

Walk On QB Tryouts mid season!!

I cant believe how bad they are. There is a lot of good talent in that state, plus one state over in California. It shouldn't be hard to get players to come to Tucson.

Baylor didn't have too much of an issue with our o-line and made Purdy rush his throws.

It starts up front, just go back and watch Fiesta Bowl.

8 pages of this. Look, Brock Purdy isn't freaking Patrick Freaking Mahomes. But he is pretty darn good, and he is our guy. Of the problems this team has, BP's performance is maybe in the top 10, but probably not.

He has some limitations. He has some strengths too. For him to reach his peak success, the staff needs to coach/scheme around those. More RPO, less deep outs. More runs to the edge if teams crowd Charlie in the middle. Better protection so he can set his feet. Gotta call his number some (and I hate designed QB runs). Better success running the ball so play action is more effective.

It feels to me like the staff has been developing him to be more of a pocket pro style guy, and idk if that is best for his success. I get adding skills to make him better and more "multiple", but BP is more like a Russel Wilson or Lamar Jackson type, needs to be allowed to improvise a bit and run around. Generate some controlled chaos, that's when he is at his best.

My $0.02.
"Better protection so he (Brock Purdy) Can Set his Feet".....I AGREE WITH THAT SENTENCE!!!!

One pool party on a campus visit was all it took to get Gronk to commit.

This is the throw I'm talking about. Definitely Patrick Mahomes like. And it should have been caught.

So my memory is poor - wasn't the CCG, it was the first time we played OU last year. And it wasn't a TE, just a receiver who couldn't get his body turned around.

You folks are being way too hard on Purdy. He's a fine college quarterback. All-conference. I watched the last part of the 4th quarter. It wasn't Brock's fault that a defender got his hand up and deflected that pass to an interception.

So it's more on the coaches for having a QB roughly the size of Muggsy Bogues?

I didn't watch the whole game, only the last part of the 4th quarter, so it's hard for me to judge. But ISU was loaded this year as well as deep and experience, so yes, if you want to throw some shade, perhaps it should be at the coaching rather than the players.

The blame is bountiful and plenty to go around. A part of me wonders if it's just a lack of patience by all? A lot of times what differentiates a Finish Carpenter from a typical Framer or Handyman is their patience and attention to detail. I think we're all so ready to be where we want but it's not there yet, and if you force it, you end up with a ****** product and losing more money than if you had just taken your time and used patience.
