He gets too excited for big games and falls apart. Hopefully that, and his accuracy can be fixed for next year.

I think AA will be much improved next year. Let's face it, this is his 3rd coach and 3rd system since he has been here. This is a system that I think fits his skills and I think we may be surprised at his improvement next year. I may have too much faith in this coaching staff, but I expect to see a lot of improvement next year. The schedule is much tougher and so there may not be a big improvement in the won-loss record, but overall I think the performance will be better.

AA also made some great plays in this game. Made a lot of bad ones too, but all we hear about is how terrible he is, no one every talks about anything good he does. Just a little balance would be nice. Unreal how we crucify these guys.

We just won a BOWL GAME and some idiot starts a thread like this!! What comes over some people that they can never be happy and enjoy anything. At the birth of your first child you will probably complain that it doesn't have curling hair. Please could we at least wait until tomorrow before we start the ******** and complaining.
actually bret meyer had a terrible game the day my son was born so i was complaining that day! my son being born AND a cyclone victory would have been amazing

A fairly accurate QB would be very successful in this system, I hope AA can be that guy next year.

I like the heart and determination of AA, but he really needs to improve for ISU to be successful in 2010. Three of the TOs today were horrible. The one INT was an absolute gift. The fumble on the exchange was bad, but the fumble when running on the 3rd and short was again horrible.

I am not ready to throw him under the bus, but he really needs to work on holding onto the ball and improve the accuracy of his passes.

I'll say it. He was only good enough tonight. We need a guy who wants to take the game over. We spent the whole second half trying to give the game away. I'll admit that luck won that game. The defense did just enough tonight while the offense fubared through just enough plays to end up on the right side. ARob outplayed AA by miles. Stop looking at last season. AA has been mediocre at best, but we have no better options. That spells trouble for next season.

AA for sure. He obviously has the talent. He made some mistakes tonight, but he also made a lot of great plays. If he can get his head wrapped around this system and get confident in it, next year could be a breakthrough year for him. I feel great going into next year with both AA and Tiller.

AA will be the starter next year. His leadership with this team is very important to our success. Tiller is not ready, and you can likely count out any juco QB. As has been said on this board earlier, look at the improvements that Herman's QB at Rice made from year 1 to year 2 under his system, if we can get anywhere near this improvement we will all be happy.

Arnaud most likely. He will only improve (hopefully)..just needs to learn how to read the defense better still and throw a tiny bit more accurately especially on the run.

Winning a bowl game should be a pretty good motivator don't you think?

Arnaud and there is not even a QB controversy to talk about

Why would you say this? We won despite him today. If he doesn't step it up, and my gut says he will, he has to be benched. Giving the ball to the other team doesn't work. I presume he'll start the year but he's not a lock for the entire year based on this year's performance. We won the biggest game of the year without him.

First priority is to have a guy that takes care of the ball, correct? The door should be wide open. I expect AA to step through.

We won despite him today.
I must have missed the part where the receivers caught the balls that were magically levitating then. Arnaud had a 73% completion percentage. 76 yards on the ground. We didn't win "despite him", we won because of his, and the rest of the teams, hard work. We won despite his mistakes.

He needs to work on his ball control, but tonight he gets to celebrate.

QB position

What does everyone think about our QB position going forward?

I look at AA and JT and I see two QB's that are very good athletes that run the ball a LOT better than they throw it. Am I wrong about that? I'd much rather see AA run the ball than pass it... anyday.

However, is that what makes this offense the most succesful? I think it does on our run option read plays of course, because both ARob and AA are threats to run. However, opposing teams have really locked on to the fact that our passing game is not much of a threat at all because they consistently put 8 guys in the box against us.

I thought it was VERY interesting earlier this week when Chris Williams made the comment about how well James Capello is performing and that he will probably challenge JT for playing time next season. That is intriguing to me because I think Herman is probably looking for a lot better passer? We've become too one dimensional IMO. AA's accuracy seems to have gotten worse every single year. I love the kid, but he has to improve dramatically next year for us to get back to a bowl game.

I saw some good things last night with those passes down the seam to the TE, and that screen play to ARob. Those two plays will burn a blitzing team very quick. That wheel route play to ARob works nearly every single time we've run it this year, but AA overthrew it last night.

I just really think this offense could be quite good with better QB play. Someone will have to step it up here next season. AA will be the starter obviously, but hopefully he improves a lot by the start of next season. I will be pulling for him.
