I have to respectfully disagree with carlhungus. Statistically they were getting stops early in the game. However they were forced to keep going out there because the offense was not getting first downs. At some point against a team team that is trying to wear you down you need a few long drives to catch your breath.
Also the same theory goes for all defense but Esp. a bend but dont break defense. You keep the play in front of you and try to force them to grind it out. But it requires a lot of energy so you need your offense to let you take a lengthy breaks to be able to succeed at this strategy.
