Good Lord. If this is the future of college sports, I want out.

Tweet deleted, what did it say?
It's gone, what did it say

The tweet I linked to was from a reporter who covers Ohio State. It said: "Can confirm through multiple sources that Quinn Ewers had NIL provisions requiring him to start a certain number of games next season, and he asked for a guarantee that would happen. Obviously that was a nonstarter with the reigning Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year returning."

It turns out there were performance-related clauses in early drafts of his NIL deal, but the final version he signed did not (and apparently could not) include any. So this reporter jumped the gun a bit by tweeting some inaccurate info, deleted the tweet, and clarified. Here are some related tweets if you want to read more.

Followup question, so reporter tweeted some inaccurate info but then tweeted that he spoke to the players agent. When did hiring an agent become allowed?

Without looking it up, I recall there being something about being able to have representation now. I'm not sure if it's an agent in the way we've traditionally thought of it vs. a lawyer or whatever.

That's a strong statement. He has 3 starting QB's in the NFL I can think of off the top of my head.
Getting NFL talent at Alabama isn’t rocket science, and before he ran the spread he produced mediocrity at that position. And none of three QB’s will still have their jobs in four years. It’s really not that hot of a take. He’s a GM, not a QB whisperer.

Mac Jones won’t have his job in 4 years? That is a bold take.

I'll agree before he went to the spread, the QB talent was average. Tua probably won't start in your timeline (though I think the injury is the biggest reason for that), Hurts is TBD, and I'll be shocked if Mac Jones isn't starting in 4 years.

Not sure what he was expecting walking on campus last summer. Either he didn't like OSU, missing his girlfriend back home (maybe the Spicoli look isn't attractive to Columbus women) or he wasn't going to play.

I hope his NIL $ didn't come from OSU boosters- negative return on that investment.
Are you feeling bad for boosters at OSU?

Why not transfer every year to the highest bidder? Im sure there are NIL bidding wars going on at the blue bloods, might as well profit.
Well, if you think you can play in the NFL it would be smart to actually play some games eventually

If it were me, the move would be to go unseat Spencer Sanders at OSU, which can’t be much further away from Austin as Lubbock, if at all.
