I'm torn on summer ones. I'm a heat casualty waiting to happen.

Flashback to running in the heat in a 10K in Glenwood, Minnesota. Early season run but insanely hot. No one was heat acclimated yet. It's the only time in like 50 races that I ever slowed to a walk for a couple minutes cause I was worried I was overheating.

Was running with wife half of two ISU friends. We ran together early and then slip to run our own paces. Was waiting at the end of the race and friend never showed. Started asking people if they had seen a blonde gal wearing pink running shorts and singlet and someone said "Oh, I saw her. She didn't feel good and the ambulance picked her up." Yikes, off to the ER in Glenwood (hubby had not come to the race).

Got to ER and she is packed in ice and getting fluids and was loopy as hell (totes convinced she was dying and was telling me what to tell her husband, weird). It was like, I imagine, trying to talk to someone who was on a bad drug trip. After her temp was down and electrolytes a-okay they let her leave with me but cautioned she might be a little "off" the rest of the evening. She had a heat stroke before running but had never shared that info with me.

Scary at the time. Respect da heat.

Women/stylish men of RTT: The Ocho....

I need help figuring out what to wear with this bachelor party shirt I'll be wearing at the Kentucky Derby (Infield, not the grandstands).

A shirt over it?

If you have to wear it, maybe a blazer over it with jeans and some dress shoes or loafers of some kind? Isn't that the goal of the derby? To get dressy and drink mint juleps (which I think are disgusting, by the way).

Wow, again, I can completely see how you all like running so much. Seems like a fun afternoon of almost dying.

In the stands yeah. The infield is like a college house party all day long. Just imagine it like Saturday of VEISHEA that just happens to be in the infield of the biggest horse race of the year.

I got heat exhaustion in my first football game freshman year. Many people look at it like not being tough enough, but it's a pretty scary thing to go through.

I thought I read somewhere that if you get it once, you become more prone to it over time as well.

Some sort pants or shorts would be a good start.

dad jeans and tennis shoes. Or maybe try to get crocks in there somehow :jimlad:

I'm not super stylish, but I honestly do think a nicer pair of jeans isn't a bad idea because it isn't like you can really wear good pants with that shirt. If you wanted to make it a little nicer maybe that, a sports coat, and jeans?

How'd I do people?

Actually, your kilt would get him the most action.

Strunk is a single guy so a kilt would be quick access for whatever was presenting itself.

I'm currently single-ish, but I like the way you guys are thinking with this kilt idea.

I was thinking about getting a blazer/sports jacket to wear over it, but wasn't sure what kind of pants to wear. I could wear jeans and my nice dark brown boots with it. What kind of jacket should I be looking for? Color? Should I try to find a hat? Or no hat?

Rockies sweep the D-Backs. Rockies shortstop Trevor Story had been the current MLB HR leader till his Rockies teammate Nolan Arenado hit 2 HR's today to over take him.

Boxster, have you ever run any of the Rock'n'Roll half marathon series races? Chicago on July 17th looks interesting to me.

As a balding late 30-something considering an all day event, a hat is a must. YMMV.

Black or navy blue blazer with the green shirt, I'd say. As long as you're wearing blue jeans, you can do a black blazer with brown shoes, I'd think.

See...I'm definitely not a fashionista, but I would say find some plaid shorts with the green and pink in it. Ehhh. That might be a bit too much.

And yes...hat...I think like this...

Y'know....forget my shorts idea. Go to a craft store and find pink & green ribbon, and use it to go around the brim.
