I'm not sure how much actually ends up in the Twin Cities.

Our current governor's family used to own Target and is probably still considered a large shareholder. He won his initial election, at least partially, on a platform of eliminating tax loopholes for the wealthy. Most of his money is kept in tax-free trusts in South Dakota.

One time I was wearing some khaki shorts and a red shirt in Target and someone asked me where the greeting cards were. If the flip flops or confused expression on my face didn't give me away, the fact that I pointed him to the electronics department probably did.

If I forget to take off my lanyard with my badge I am always getting asked where stuff is in Menards, Home Depot etc

Still watching the Burns Vietnam doc (I know, that's another thread) and last night they presented clips of Hubert Humphrey campaigning in 1968. He was a really decent man, and far too nice to win a competition with one of the most cutthroat pols of all time.

Pretty despicable how Nixon played the war like a game to ensure his nomination.
Nixon was despicable but Humphrey was no saint.

It's pretty well known that he was in the pocket of ADM and had uncomfortably close relationships with the Soviet Union. Most of the members of his party that I know from his time grew tired of him, stating something to this effect, "He talked all the time but didn't say anything." I think a better description of him is likable more so than decent (and maybe decent in a relative sense). Boxster may have been in Minnesota for some of Humphrey's senate time and may have heard differently. Hope that's not too cavey. I will end there.

A customer just brought up an issue from June and was super ****** about it. They wanted to know exact details about what occurred (even though it won't matter since the matter is long since resolved). She then went on a tirade saying that we were being held responsible for the issue and would suffer any charges that went with the issue.

I responded back with an answer and a good degree of diplomacy, but, oh no, she just kept going.

She's with a customer that we're gently ushering out the door anyway. Their demands are above and beyond the financial returns for us. I'm the lead point with this relationship, so I've had to deal with this headache for over 5 years. She keeps demanding an answer, but I'm telling her that I have no way to provide it to her since it was in friggin June, and we have no need to keep those types of records for so long.

I'm usually ridiculously patient, but she's pushing the wrong buttons. She is conveniently overlooking the times we helped her out or the times that they made an error (which outnumbers our faults nearly 20 to 1). I worded this much more cordially, but I ended up saying, "You can charge us for the issue, but I'm not gonna sit here and listen to your mouth as well. Pick one or the other, but I'm not dealing with both."

I'm getting ready to turn that bridge into an inferno.

I can really relate to this. I've been in the service industry for 35+ years now, and I suppose I'm getting burned out, but some people's attitudes can wear very thin. It's almost as if things aren't dead solid perfect, somebody is gonna have a bad day. Or product warranties that render their products bulletproof. My favorite is when a customer starts a tirade with "Do you know how much money I've spent here?" When I hear that, I almost always go on auto-pilot.

Looks like a HS classmate of mine and a guy that was briefly in the same boy scout troop with me growing up stabbed some lady eight times while high.

Different roads travelled huh?

Just a tad...

Not that it matters the murder happened at a house two blocks from my best friend and the body was stashed at a house that backed up to a park that I debated taking LittleWx to last night. Kid loves the playground there.

We are migrating a client from our data center in Jersey to the one in Omaha. Today they did a data sync and tried to bring the system up.
Of course something I told them needed done a month ago wasn't done causing issues. I'm not even part of this project but every time something doesn't work they run to me. It would be nice if they would actually listen once in a while.
I'm gonna have an aneurysm one of these days.

Now there's what appears to be black plastic in the window fashioned as a curtain and bound together with a couple of those black paper binder things. WHAT THE **** IS HAPPENING HERE?!?!

I'm thinking you may want to start to look for alternative housingo_O;). I always just assumed you lived somewhere fairly nice/safe.
