The secretary at my daughter's school called me. Apparently the before-and-after daycare we've been using has dropped students off late 4 times this year already. FOUR FRIGGIN TIMES! They've only been in school since August 16th!

Needless to say, the assistant director of the daycare just got done with a very unpleasant phone call from yours truly.

Orlando son texted brother and asked him to block the weather channel "so Mom will quit freaking out." Probably correctly assumes I wouldn't be able to figure out how to unblock it lol.

He told me he is most worried about his fantasy football leagues and making roster changes. His prof offered his whole lab the opportunity to ride it out as his house. Son went in to secure his research and helped prof pick up some precautionary sand bags and haul them out to prof's house, but he's going to stay put at his own house, which a fellow student owns.

He keeps telling me not to worry, people evacuating are coming to Orlando, not leaving it. Nothing more futile than telling me not to worry about my kids. When he was in undergrad in Cali, he slept through the only earthquakes while he was there.

Wow!
After our day 1 fracas on Tuesday, I'm planning to get to preschool earlier to park and walk Z in.
4 times, that's screwed up.

At least he has his priorities in order.

Considering that my daughter needs really limited supervision and doesn't eat any meals there, my sole purpose for paying them is to basically get her to school and back.

You had one job!

I was at a flea market on West Lake Okoboji last weekend and saw this gem. Who wants a birthday/Christmas present?!

Picture day today--one of the least favorite days of school of parents and teachers alike. We had outfits all picked out, knew what we were doing with hair, just needed time to execute. Then throw in a leaking gallon of milk in the fridge (my fault) and it was a fun morning. Everyone made it to school on time, but only 1 of four was ready in time for the bus. ;) Not a big deal because I was volunteering to help at the elementary school and drive the preschooler to school every morning anyway. (I have not been late yet . . . )

People still don't quite get the concept of the round-about in town. Don't sit and wait--if there is an opening go ahead and enter!! It did not help that there must have been trucks working on the road paving/bike trial just south of the high school who could not turn around. So these semi trucks would basically drive north, go around the round-about and head back south this morning during school drop off.

I know of some people that evacuated Orlando. Granted they have kids and said they wouldn't be doing so if they didn't have kids.

He said they were worried about people clogging up the highways worse who didn't need to evacuate.

I always hated picture day too. My boys could care less. I make them get a haircut about a week before. Hopefully your afternoon is a little more relaxing.
