Need one? Meh not really but it has certainly been on the radar of a nice to have as another thing to do and at least one proposal was marketed as part of the west side post flood reviatalization. @Rabbuk and @bawbie can correct me if I am wrong because I was not here for them but I believe this is the third attempt in the last six years or so to get one. One of those attempts was approved by the board but had to go to the polls to approve it and it was turned down there. There were a couple of studies down on the market this time and they all pretty much said that there is not enough growth to handle another casino and thus it would canabalize the current casinos in the area (four within an hour and another within an hour and a half).

People could save time and gas money by just sending a check directly to the casinos. Or better yet, just use direct deposit or a monthly credit card debit (get you card points!).

Sorry. I'm a bit cynical about this.

1. It feels like he's trying to write a book.
2. It feels like he's trying to sell his friend's "cleansing" business.
3. He's acting as if this trip to Japan was spur-of-the-moment. Rarely do people take spur-of-the-moment trips to Japan. Now his trip to Japan is tax deductible for the book he's writing.

Since @jcyclonee is always accusing me of being a Counciltuckian, let me chime in that you may have a casino going in on your side of the river in Carter Lake. The Ponca Tribe now has authorization from the Feds, anyway.
I saw something about that on the news. Once again Nebraska will get up in arms about it complaining that there are no laws allowing casinos in Nebraska. I never understand that argument being that
1. It is Carter Lake Iowa , I don't care if it is landlocked in Nebraska, it is still Iowa.
2. It is land owned by the Ponca tribe. They have the feds on their side.

Anyone ever get their nose scooped? It is a pretty awful deal when there is some inflamation/infection in the sinus. Holy balls that hurt.

That sounds right. It may be more than 3 attempts, they've started to get less and less press each time.

My wife is 100% against it - but I'm not so sure. It would be nice to have something in that space they are talking about, although I liked the waterpark idea better.

Glad to see it. I always thought that CL should have been charging people a toll as they cross through Iowa on the way to the airport. Because EFF Nebraska.

Now be honest. I see two real explanations.

1. You put your finger too far up your nose and it got stuck there.
2. You just got a nose job and you're trying to cover it up like a Hollywood starlet. Renee Bretweger44.

I hated the "boutique" casino idea. If you are going to do it just freaking do it. I also think it would be interesting to see what the occupancy rate is at the Double Tree and to see if downtown could handle another good hotel option. No idea what will happen with the areas of now undeveloped land on the west banks of the river. I also don't think we need more permanent flood protection.

The Jayhawk player car shenanigans thread is giving me campus car flashbacks to college.

(1) Friend taking out a light pole and totaling his Firebird following a high speed chase 20 minutes after I insisted he drop me off back at the dorm. Glad I had that rare moment of maturity and self preservation. (2) A call from roommate's dad one morning asking for my roomie since the police had just called the dad about a car registered to his name that was found crashed in someone's front yard with four flat tires and busted rims. (3) Me playing demolition derby with my '73 Nova versus an embedded parking bollard. (4) Poor Nova (again) getting vandalized with the roof caved in and side panels all kicked in (5) My little MGB topless in the Richardson Court parking lot because someone had stolen the convertible top and frame.

Big noisy commotion outside with birds and Squirrely Bobs sounding off. Look outside and that possum thing is in the yard again and apparently not welcome.

Damn they be ugly. Fur looks like it's been dipped in veggie oil.
