Looking for help from the RT gang.

My fam will probably catch a movie or two in the theaters over the next few weeks. I have a list of them that I think I'd like to see, but none of them are really giving me that "I can't wait to go see this" kinda vibe.

Has anyone seen any of these that wants to voice an opinion:

Aquaman - reviews have been surprisingly promising, was initially meh, but have been reconsidering

Mary Poppins Returns - daughter loved the original, I like Emily Blunt, it seems like a good fit. I just wish a sequel would never have been made.

Spiderman (into the Spider-Verse) - another one that I was only moderately considering, but I have heard really good reviews from everyone I know that has seen it

Mortal Engines - daughter really wants to see this one, I have a feeling it will play out like a Maze Runner-type movie where everything (acting, plot, dialogue, CGI) is just sorta ok and I'll leave the movie thinking "I've seen worse, I've seen a lot better"

Welcome to Marwen - The idea intrigues me, but it's been getting hammered by reviewers. I don't want to talk myself out of a good movie just because some reviewer wants to be a douchecanoe to get noticed.

Z's classmates loved the Spider Verse.

Thanks. My daughter is hitting that "too cool for animated movies" age :( but I think I can still get a few more out of her if they are the right ones.

She wanted to see "Instant Family". At first, I was thinking it would be a fairly decent alternative (seemed like a feel-good family comedy) and then I checked IMDB for the parental warnings. There was something saying that they used as much profanity as the PG-13 rating allowed.

I'm no saint and I know my daughter hears that all day long at middle school, but I had to be a parent and say nope.

They made a "Jingle all the Way 2" starring Larry The Cable Guy?

Mortal Engines is really bad. Has good visuals, but that's it. Plot and acting are poor

Not exactly sure.
For those looking for love over Christmas, avoid the dating site Plenty O fish. The ads show the same women looking as last year, so it can’t be a very successful site.

Time to go run sound for church. May mix a little stuff I found on YouTube for entry music.

I am happy now that I cashed in funds for kids’ college back in September.

I’ve heard fantastic things everywhere about the Spider-Man movie. To the point that I’m tempted to see it, and I hate super hero movies.

Ok, so it was out for delivery, now it says it's back at the post office...

My mom mailed my Christmas package Tuesday to arrive Friday. Didn’t have it as of this morning. She looked up the tracking number and it said it was delivered to my PO box but too big so I had to get the slip and pick it up. It was delivered there at 12:03. They closed at 12 for anyone to be able to pick up packages.

That was the one I've been pushing for. I've often thought that animation can add another dinension of story-telling that doesn't get taken advantage of enough.

Well, that and I'm pretty nerdy about the super hero movies.

A Visit from St. Nicholas
By Clement Clarke Moore
'Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse;
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there;
The children were nestled all snug in their beds;
While visions of sugar-plums danced in their heads;
And mamma in her 'kerchief, and I in my cap,
Had just settled our brains for a long winter's nap,
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
I sprang from my bed to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.
The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow,
Gave a lustre of midday to objects below,
When what to my wondering eyes did appear,
But a miniature sleigh and eight tiny rein-deer,
With a little old driver so lively and quick,
I knew in a moment he must be St. Nick.
More rapid than eagles his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name:
"Now, Dasher! now, Dancer! now Prancer and Vixen!
On, Comet! on, Cupid! on, Donner and Blitzen!
To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!
Now dash away! dash away! dash away all!"
As leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky;
So up to the housetop the coursers they flew
With the sleigh full of toys, and St. Nicholas too—
And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
As I drew in my head, and was turning around,
Down the chimney St. Nicholas came with a bound.
He was dressed all in fur, from his head to his foot,
And his clothes were all tarnished with ashes and soot;
A bundle of toys he had flung on his back,
And he looked like a pedler just opening his pack.
His eyes—how they twinkled! his dimples, how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the beard on his chin was as white as the snow;
The stump of a pipe he held tight in his teeth,
And the smoke, it encircled his head like a wreath;
He had a broad face and a little round belly
That shook when he laughed, like a bowl full of jelly.
He was chubby and plump, a right jolly old elf,
And I laughed when I saw him, in spite of myself;
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head
Soon gave me to know I had nothing to dread;
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
And filled all the stockings; then turned with a jerk,
And laying his finger aside of his nose,
And giving a nod, up the chimney he rose;
He sprang to his sleigh, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle.
But I heard him exclaim, ere he drove out of sight—
“Happy Christmas to all, and to all a good night!”

Wishing all y'all an evening and morning filled with family, friends, food, fireplaces and fun...
Peace!

Long three days for the baby - four Christmases in three places, sleeping in two places. Everyone said he was so happy and smiley - we got the other end on the drive back tonight. He took a 30 minute nap at the start, woke up and scream cried on and off between white noise, sensory videos, and a food stop in the middle.........fell asleep literally 4 minutes from home. Then took almost two hours to fall asleep and has had a few random cries in his sleep. Such a tired baby. Only had to bite my tongue a few times but did momentarily let it loose when niece was careless and let baby fall over face first into wooden furniture. Still a bit salty there was nothing beyond a "what do you say" and a half-assed "sorry". Like, she has younger siblings and knows better. Thought there should have been a more serious conversation about being careful because that could have been worse than the lovely little bump on his head he has now. Anyway, hopefully I and my child will be perfect when we get to those stages of life.

Glad we're off for a few days now. "Open" gifts with him tomorrow and make pizza. Hopefully get in a nap with him and my workout some point. Just so glad to be home. Dinner was sugar cookies and wine :p

Hope everyone is having a great holiday!
