Why are you going to classes? Haven’t you help birthed like 100 cows?

Probably closer to adding another zero on there. They had a little questionaire to fill out - like "do you have prior birth experience you wish to share?" I said to DH does it have to be with humans???

Also, as people asked what I thought were "dumb" questions like "how is that woman relaxing between contractions" (thinking that active labor was one big contraction) or "what point in labor does water break" I realize oh, maybe not everyone has a ton of experience with how labor goes.

The What to Expect the First Year book was, maybe, even more informative. I highly recommend getting that one.

I may have to read that one, seen it recommended a few times. Read one called Newborn 101 and there's a owner's manual to your baby (something like that) that's supposed to be funny as well as informative.

lucky bastard. I had to walk down to the cafeteria and then sit all by myself to eat lunch, all while the wife took a nap.
For a meal, I had to walk down to the cafeteria while my wife took a nap. With the first child, I walked down with my in-laws who proceeded to walk out of the hospital and go to a bar to play pull tabs.

My moneys on CG having a daughter. What odds do I get?

Don't let it scare ya. We've been doing this for thousands of years while the guys turn green. You got this, CG. :D
That's because you ladies get to have drugs administered to you in a nice comfy bed while we have to sit in torture chairs or stand until we get back spasms and remind you girls to breathe because you don't have the courtesy to remember to breathe all by yourself.

One of those is nice to have as a reference. Especially when you're awake at 3:30 trying to figure out what that color of poop means. Of course phones and tablets connect to the web way better now than they did 17 years ago.

That is so Minnesotan. My in-laws would have done that same had my children been born in Minnesota.

It's no kickball or dodgeball, but I can give a birth class highlight reel.

First, I screwed up my introduction and was the only person not to state my job so good start. I had felt good about the size of my bump prior to this and upon arrival and sizing up the other bumps, I realize I don't feel good anymore. Well, for sure thought I was smaller than one lady and then in her intro she mentioned she's having twins so yeah. DH pointed out that I am one of the furthest along but for real, one girl I'm calling "2 day pregnant girl" because I'm pretty sure that's how far she is. 26 weeks my ass.

There was more time than I expected talking about peeing in the basement as storms were coming in and instructor was overly describing what we would do should the sirens sound. Speaking of the instructor, she is hella chipper. She's also a doula (coincidentally part of the group that I had met with to check out) and I mentioned to DH that I would not pick her cause I'd probably kill her. Overly cheerful people really annoy me. DH thinks it's because I'm a terrible person. DH also found it annoying though so he's terrible too. The husband of 2 day pregnant girl who kept making faces at his wife is likely in agreement.

During the first video, one couple got up and left at the end. I'm like damn, she going to faint? Need help peeing? I was so invested in thinking about why both had to leave. Then at the end I go out to pee and turns out it wasn't her, it was him. He's laying in the hallway cause watching 12 minutes of some lady's labor and birth (it did have a couple crotch shots but actually less than I expected) did him in. I'm like 90% sure when I walked back by and the instructor lady was checking in that the mom to be was asking about who else could be her birth partner/support person. Oh, guy in the birth video itself commented how once his wife got to 7cm, he couldn't really help much and knew he had some time, so he TOOK A NAP. DH is like oh yes and I'm like I will hurt you.

While describing how to know if your water breaks and describing checking the smell, color, DH leans over to me and said "what about taste?"

We did the practice breathing at the end - though I think more time was spent on discussing peeing in the basement than the breathing - and it was relaxing. She suggested the support person tap on mom to signal slow beats of a breath in and out. DH did so and I was like aww, how sweet. Then I noticed the ******* was rapidly increasing the rate of the tap because he thinks he's funny.

Think I left for the restroom three times in the 2.5 hour class so that's what I'll use as my score count. Technically, I think that means I won because no other woman left that often.

Excellent update CG. More and more I think DH is my kind of guy.

Food wise with our son I had to go down to the cafeteria. With our daughter I got three meals over the course of our stay. I stupidly used one of those up when she was admitted but it was up in the air what was happening so I only had two more for the three remaining days we were there.

Wherever I go, there I am.
Is that why some women give birth in the car? Learned something.
So Hawkeye fans give birth in the bathroom?

EDIT for further questions:

Must the Hawkmother give birth in the same bathroom where the act of conception occurred?
Not exactly the same, but is this analogous to salmon that must return to their birth waters to spawn?

Not exactly sure.
Did anybody sleep in the room after birth with mom and baby? Went home figuring it was the best for everyone's sleep. After the first, it was to watch kid 1 and then 2.

I think the RTT Ladies have mentioned this before, but each labor is so different compared to each person. There are the obvious things that are generalized, but the experience is different to everyone. With Z I learned that some of her kicks were actually contractions, but both times I never really felt anything until they broke the water. I think I had a slightly bad reaction to the epidural. I think my blood pressure went pretty low and they had to adjust things. I just remember from around that point had mainly had to concentrate on singing carols to myself to not freak out until I could push.
