Re: Rashad Vaughn

Didn't except Arizona to still be in the mix. Safe to say his unofficials will be UNLV and Minnesota and officials to the rest

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Rashad Vaughn (Findlay Prep/Golden Valley, Minn.), the 11th-ranked player in the ESPN 100, trimmed his list to seven schools: Arizona, Baylor, Iowa State, Kansas, Minnesota, North Carolina and UNLV. Georgetown, Kentucky, UConn and UCLA were eliminated.

"The reason he wants to do it now is that he wants to focus on the schools that he is most interested in," said Pete Kaffey, his assistant coach and mentor.

The NCAA allows five official visits for each senior prospect. With seven schools on his list, two visits will have to be unofficial. Which schools will get the official visits?

"I am going to Baylor (Oct.18-20) and Iowa State (Nov. 7-9). Those are set," said Vaughn. "I plan to go to Kansas and North Carolina during the season."

Vaughn's last official visit will be between UNLV and Minnesota. "I have to discuss it with my parents," said Vaughn. "Arizona is here (out west) so I will go on an unofficial there."

The Minnesota native said he plans to make a decision this spring, based on two factors: his relationship with the head coach and the team's style of play. "I want to go where they go up and down the floor and have a fast tempo and set ball screens in the half court," said Vaughn.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Agree, but hell we know we are not a blue blood. I would feel better if UNLV was listed with us instead of Minnesota. I think Kafferty is hurting us and ma and pop helping our cause.

On a semi-related note was talking to a hawkeye fan and mother of two the other day. She said "it pains me to say it but I will encourage my kids to go to ISU, who wants their kids going to a party school". ISU always feels like a safe option for parents for the same reason pundits knock Ames, in this case it may play in our favor. That + Fred what mother wouldn't pick Iowa State.

I attended the University of Iowa for my undergrad degree and yes Iowa is pretty nuts especially now with the #1 ranking but I also visited my friends at Iowa State often too and Iowa State was also crazy on weekends. Any university with an enrollment of 30k+ students is going to have tons and tons of partying going on. And Veisha was one of the more crazy things I saw/attended during undergrad.

Woops, finger slipped. Hopefully a mod takes down that premium content here pretty soon. Don't want to hurt ESPN's profit margins!

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Will any of the other schools on his list offer the same offense he's looking for besides us?

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Minnesota definitely does not get up and down the court like us, and considering Pitino is relatively new to the program (only like 6 months) I cant believe he has as good of a relationship with him as Hoiberg (multiple years now).

Arizona has a fantastic coach, but they got on sort of late I thought?

UNC is UNC, he seems to like them but Roy wants to lock up his recruiting class and Vaughn isn't ready to commit.

Never ever under estimate Bill Self, everyone was 98% sure Wiggins was picking FSU and look what happened.

UNLV I have no idea to be honest, they just had the #1 draft pick so that helps quite a bit.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Findley Prep's coach apparently has a reputation for pushing his elite players to UNLV. Not that it's surprising, just something to watch out for.

Hines just tweeted that Kentucky, UCLA, UCONN, and Georgetown are cut from his list.

After reading this about 10 times, I need to make a new pitcher

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Pretty much all of them.

Baylor is boring and makes our offense look like a cheetah chasing after a fat kid. Georgetown making the final 11 is a mystery to me since they're a heavily defensive oriented program. Not sure about Pitino's style of play or UNLV's, but ours is a perfect fit for Vaughn. Hoping he really picks the good guys here.

Well Georgie is out now...so you were probably right.

ISU has got to be in the top 2, based on all the recent discussions. Don't think it was a coincidence that Fred did an in-home visit yesterday and now new trimmed list is out...which ISU is still on. Can't wait for Vaughn's visit in October! As if the Michigan game wouldn't be enough to get people excited!!!

Re: Rashad Vaughn

I think Vaughn is doing to Minnesota what Barnes did to us. Keep them in it to keep them happy for awhile then say they were his second option. I don't see him going to Arizona
