Re: Rashad Vaughn

For those that were waiting I finally got a new update from my sources.

So I asked what's new on the Vaughn situation and what are we having for dinner tonight.

My source responded with "I don't even know what that first question means and we are having chicken enchilada soup. Also don't forget you have to go to parent teacher conferences tomorrow."

I'm trying not to read into it too much but I don't feel as good about ISU's chances after this. The chicken enchilada was a direct message IMO.

OK. Just pour the milk and set the plates like last night and keep a low profile. You're doing excellent work.

My plan is to lay low for awhile.

The big news will come when we go to Minnesota for Thanksgiving. Then I will be eating dinner with people really "in the know". How inside are they you ask? Just two weeks ago they informed me that Tubby was still the Gophers coach. I can only assume that this is part of some master plot to unleash Tubby to recruit RV full time and not worry about coaching games and that only people truly deep in the program are even aware of it.

It will be interesting to see what tidbits can be gleaned during that trip.

Yes and no. W
Yes - we didn't get a SG/SF commit, which is what has essentially turned away UNC/UK.
UNLV seemed to benefit from their commit, so should we
he wants to know who he's playing with, well, there you go.

No - Josh Cunningham could commit and then we lose out. Although that's probably not gonna happen. I also wouldn't be surprised if this turned away Cunningham too.

We wouldn't necessarily lose out if one or the other commits. Possible, but I sincerely doubt that one commits the other decides because of that to not commit. If they want to play with the best and for the dreamiest... why not?

Bad news. Only the weak choose chicken over steak, which obviously means that he's choosing UNLV, because they're the chicken, and were the steak.

Kansas is the gum under the table so I'm glad they weren't mentioned.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

So, I would assume that getting McKay only helps our chances with Vaughn, correct?

Well, we were led to believe Cunningham was a key part to getting Vaughn here. If you ask me McKay will be ready to contribute more for the one year that Vaughn plans on being here than Cunningham, so it can't hurt.

Never really bought that one. Agree on that second point.

It's going to be great having McKay committed so he can get really get in Vaughn's ear about committing. I know Custer is coming up too. Is that an official for him as well? It would be great if all 3 could sit together and both McKay and Custer could get him pumped about ISU.

I was vocal about not buying it. Getting a kid that will play sparingly his freshman year isn't going to lure a kid who will be here for ONLY his freshman year.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Thats just not true

I would love to know why? I'm going to need you to go a little deeper than "Fred will make room" (which I agree that he would). You don't think that if ISU can't immediately take a commit from Vaughn that he'll still want to come here over UNLV? Not a chance.

We over signed with Kane, it worked out fine. Fred will have a feel for who wants to transfer out when they aren't getting minutes.

But we could still take an immediate commit...

This has nothing to do with our scholarships and everything to do with Vaughn. He's not going to wait until we have an open spot to sign.
