Re: Rashad Vaughn

Just looked at the crystal ball predictions for the first time in my life. Of the 5 schools listed on the chart, 4 different schools have led at some point in the past year, and 4 months ago the 2 schools that are currently ahead were in 4th and 5th. So really the only thing that site proves is that their experts arent really experts.

Ah....so you're an expert on experts then? :jimlad:

Or theyre trying to analyze the decision making of a 17 year old boy. Not the most reliable thing in the world

Re: Rashad Vaughn

ISU fan first, Gopher fan second. If he doesn't come to ISU, then UMN is where I hope he ends up. I'll admit that a lot of Gopher fans are insufferable.

It would be bad for Iowa State for Reid Travis to pick minnesota. We don't want them to have any success up there when we are trying to land the top Minnesota preps. A bunch of guys up there we are recruiting for the next few years. One of those is Travis teammate at DeLasalle, Jarvis Johnson.

I'll see if I can get any advance info on Reid.

Even with Travis, they are not winning anything so don't worry.

Not defending the "experts" but he changes his mind a lot. They were probably leading for him then, just like we're probably leading for him now. Kentucky is the only one I question ever actually being a "leader", I think people just assume the top 10 could all go there until they hear differently.

It's looking increasingly like Reid might pick the UofM. Hope he does!

This reminds me of HB so much. For months no one was thinking ISU had much of a chance. Then all the sudden the last few weeks you started hearing whispers. Look, he's wearing ISU gear! Then his invitations went out. Gary Thompson is invited! That's it, he's a Clone! Then on national TV our hearts get ripped out and stomped on. I expect something similar on Friday.

I was thinking the same thing...
It seems leading up to this point he was really looking at Stanford and Gonzaga, Duke entered late. The education aspect is really important to his family, I think his brother is playing for Harvard right now. Upto this point I assumed he would go to Stanford for the acedemics. Lately though he has been almost weekly attending scrimages and exhibitions of the Gophers and seen at their facilities visiting with the staff almost weekly. Now he lives blocks from campus so this isn't hard for him but I would definetly give the Gopher a good chance, maybe 50/50 or more. Duke is the wild card, they are late to the game but, play his style and have the acedemics and Coach K. Plus he was flattered by the Blue Devil offer when it came.
I am not worried about Travis commiting to the U of M affecting Vaughn that much, RV wants results year one and I doubt that Reid can help much as a frosh. Plus with us getting McKay and having Niang, Vaughn should know the front court is talented and set.
I'd be more worried about Jarvis Johnson's recruitment getting influenced the year after.

Well, for the record, he did wear a Duke shirt the day before he announced. And he was friends with Gary Thompson.

New topic

IF Travis goes to Minnesota, he won't change that program around. He will just do there what Brackins did here. You can be an all-star but if you have no talent around you, it won't matter. Look at the Chicago Bulls now. Rose is their only scorer, no wonder they only have one win.

Off topic tangent on Derrick Rose: does anyone else think his tattoos are weird? The random tattoos here and there look silly, especially his left shoulder.

Poohdini? That's like a mix of the grim reaper, Houdini, Winnie the Pooh, and a basketball. WTF?

How do you know that he's changed his mind a lot?
