Re: Rashad Vaughn

But more seriously, I've read every post in this thread and every linked article about his recruitment there is. It's all speculation but everyone seems to have a lean to one school or another during a long recruitment. Same with Cunningham. Everyone trying to interpret his actions, first it was OU, now it's Bradley. Changing his mind wasn't the right terminology, he hasn't been decided on one school and then decided not to go to that school.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Off topic tangent on Derrick Rose: does anyone else think his tattoos are weird? The random tattoos here and there look silly, especially his left shoulder.

Poohdini? That's like a mix of the grim reaper, Houdini, Winnie the Pooh, and a basketball. WTF?

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Now I'm confident we will have a top 10 class next year.

McKay won't be part of the recruiting class. He's considered a transfer, not a recruit. It will be Custer and whoever else fills the other scholarship. Those two players alone won't be a top 10 class, even if it is RV.

I'm not including McKay. I'm confident we will have 3 high schoolers come in next year that make up a top 10 class.

Royce White had a lot of stupid tattoos as well. Obviously they look silly to us but if they have meaning to them then good for them. However, when you have like 20 tattoos you gotta figure not all of them have significant meaning.

So you're pretty much saying you think ISU will get RV and JC? What if Cunningham goes to Bradley or Vaughn goes to UNLV, who are the guys we'll go after? I haven't heard any 2014 recruits brought up lately other than JC or RV.

My guess is JUCO bigs.

I believe Fred has already alluded to the fact that Rashad and Josh are the remaining 2014 targets. If they missed on both, Fred would stash the remaining scholarship for any potential transfers.
Remember there is only one 2014 scholarship available currently.

Yep, its it's definitely RV and/or Cunningham at this point for that last scholarship. If no for both, we bank the one scholarship for the transfer market come the end of this year. Pretty simple strategy and one I agree with wholeheartedly. No point in going for High School leftovers when we can pull much better players consistently in the transfer market at the end of the season. To a large extent, Fred has increased his recruiting to the point where high school leftovers are no longer even an option for him. And to think, I remember nearly entire recruiting classes in the McDermott years which were loaded with high school leftovers. A few of them panned out, most did not. For now, lets leave those guys to the Nebraskas and mid-majors of the world.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

It will be a 3 man class. It may be top 15 but not top 10. Cunningham and Custer are fringe top 100 guys. If McKay counted then yes.

Yes, but things change, and scholarships open up, as we've seen in every offseason for Fred. Whats to say we don't have 4 new players coming in next year, 1 being McKay, and 3 out of high school?

Maybe one, but would we really need to sign multiple 2-year bigs to be in the same class as Nader, Niang and McKay?

Certainly not two of them.

I see us grabbing a wing or guard with 1 spot for sure (either Juco or transfer), on the assumption that we miss on RV and JC.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

It's very possible that Custer and Cunningham improve their stock over the season and give us a top ten class. As it stands now though, probably wouldn't be top ten..

That's what he's saying. A 3 man class isn't going to crack the top 10 unless it's composed of mainly 5 star recruits simply because of numbers. A class of Vaughn, Custer, and Cunningham will not be top 10.
