We aren't Kansas

Well, obviously. Just referring to this case only, as in RVaughn, since we're supposedly still 'highly thought of' and on his list. I did say I was "begging". lol

Re: Rashad Vaughn

It seems to me that if Rashad Vaughan comes to Iowa State, it is because he wants to play for Fred. I am sure other things will factor into his decision, but I think the primary reason we have a shot is Fred.

In a lot of the recruiting threads, we talk about kids picking schools due to tradition, facilities, game atmosphere, ... While we can compete on most levels, I think Fred is our biggest selling point right now. He is a rising star and he is such a great guy who I think most kids can feel comfortable with.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

It seems to me we're the only ones that think we have a chance at Vaughn. I think the Minnesota fanbase is starting to realize we're legit contenders for him but everyone else just laughs at the thought of him coming to ISU.

I guess I don't blame them but it will make it that much sweeter when he picks ISU.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Vaughn won't be coming to ISU or Minny if he doesnt think we can compete at the very highest level. Fred has made some noise but will it be enough? Minny is too far behind on the talent scale. Vaughn isn't going to a school that doesn't have Final Four chops. It's up to Fred to convince him that with him our roster can get there.

I know we're not supposed to read much into twitter answers, but one of RV's questions on his site was what his main goal was as a college athlete. His answer was...National Championship. To me that squarely puts us behind the 8-ball called Kentucky or NCar. Not saying CFH can't ever do it, but 2014-2015? ? I suppose there's always the possiblility that a player with the confidence and talent of Vaughn believes he could be the main piece to achieve that anywhere.

I won't say NC - that's crazy even for a blue blood with several top 5 recruiting classes in a row... it's just so rare - everything has to go right. But I do think we can be REALLY good in '14-'15. I love the guys in the pipeline. With Fred's scheming.... OOOOO-WEEEEeee!

The only thing about that is most players say their number 1 goal is to win a nc but lets be honest, a player of his hype and talents number 1 goal is most likely to get to the nba which isu can get him

Re: Rashad Vaughn

So one rumor says Kentucky or ISU, another one says UNC, Minnesota, or ISU... It's gotta be ISU.

Honestly though, I think we bring in at least one of those highly recruited forward, and make the Tournament again this year.. Fred will get him locked down.

Fred thought this past year's team was good enough to be a Final Four team. I'm certain that with the potential roster for that season, he'd (Fred) have confidence of making the NC game. Look at how far we've come in such a short time.

'14 - '15 is a long ways a way, so I'll just leave it that "we could be really good."

Not to be too much of a wet blanket, but a lot can happen between now and '14/'15. Fred's already got this team to a point where we can be competitive every year.

Saying "national championship" is the right thing to say, but we all know that he would trade a national championship (for which he was only a role player) for being an All-American without the national championship. And where does he have the best chance to be an All-American? Right here. The media is just waiting for Hoiberg to give them a player of this caliber to gush over.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Good lord, there sure are a lot of people who seem to know exactly what Rashad Vaughn wants. "He wants to be a national champion more than anything!" "He doesn't want Minnesota because they don't have enough talent!" "He would rather be an All-American than have a national championship!"

Do we really have to listen to this crud until Rashad makes a decision?

You know when your schoolteachers talked about critical thinking, and all you could think about was flooding the toilet by the 5th grade?

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Like most people, Vaughn is going to school to train for a job. That's how he will make his decision. Anything else is nice, but secondary.

And what raises your stock for the NBA more? A national championship? Or being an All-American?

And what exactly did you expect to find in a 1000+ post thread titled "Rashad Vaughn?"

Opinions about what we think seems entirely appropriate. Despite our over-the-top manners of speech, only a few have even claimed to have inside information. Most of the rest of us are just making the case for why he should come here.
