Re: Rashad Vaughn

Yeah, Tinsley was the man. Favorite announcer call of all time, I believe during the thumping of UCLA in 2000(?) NCAA tournament: 'One on five, Tinsley has the advantage.' Followed by a for no good reason circling the ball around his back and layup.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Well, Rashad Vaughn definitely isn't coming here since nobody has posted about him in the last 16 hours. We might as well give up now. We should all feel ashamed.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Bump bump bump. Start the CF countdown for his decision day a year from now.
Can you take five official visits each year?

Uh, we were freaking sweet.

ISU Hoops is almost "all the way back" with the squads that the Mayor has been putting together. Hoiberg will have us competing for Big 12 Titles for a long time!

LOL Brandon Hawkins getting his 5 seconds of fame!
I love watching that team. We are good now, again, but still not quite back up to the caliber of back to back Big 12 championships and #2 seedings in the NCAA's. Our team this past year was pretty good, but that '00-'01 team would have wiped the floor with them unfortunately

I would take the '99-'00 team over the '00-'01 team any day.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

I haven't seen Vaughn play, but it is pretty hard for me to believe that he is a Tinsley. I watched the two years that he played for Isu and he was the game changer. Despite his turnovers, he won. I think the record was 32-5 the first year. I would love to see that out of Vaughn.

That first team with Tinsley was a national championship team that got the shaft.

Vaughn IMO would be a game changer in both the game as well as in Fred's recruiting ability. You get 1 5 star guy, and it opens up the door to get more. Kids will start to wonder what he saw in Iowa State, and at least give us a chance.

Just look at what Royce (albeit a transfer) has done for the program. If we get Vaughn, I'm sure the relationship they have together will have had something to do with it.

Royce - led to - Niang - led to - Morris & Thomas

1 recruit has the ability to completely change a program in basketball, which is why I LOVE IT!

Re: Rashad Vaughn

I think Fizer complemented Tinsley rather than Tinsley complenting Fizer's talents. As evidence, I give you 2001. No Fizer. Conference Champs. I am not sure Fizer gets it done in 2000 without Tinsley. Tinsley was a rare, rare talent.

Are you joking? Did you watch those years? Fizer, as a junior, was a 1st team All American that finished a close 2nd in the voting for player of the year in all of college basketball...and you ask us to think of him as a complimentary player? Fizer from his sophomore year to his junior year improved tremendously. Did he benefit from Tinsley? Absolutely he did, but make no mistake Fizer was the man. I loved Tinsley, and he was a wizard with the ball in his hands, but Markus is still the most dominant player I have seen since Grayer. I would certainly give Tinsley the bonus on defense.

Additionally, if you look at the elite 8 run, we were fairly healthy during the NCAAs, but almost never had the full squad during the season, which makes our record that year even more amazing. I think we actually had more healthy bodies during the next year than we did that run.
