Re: Rashad Vaughn

Telep just listed Iowa State, Baylor, UNC, Kentucky and Minnesota as the suitors for Vaughn.

I wonder if he knows anything....I was betting on UCLA being in there until the end.

And Jerry Meyer keeps tweeting that some big recruit is picking tomorrow between SMU and Kentucky and now people think he is going SMU. Would that effect Vaughn?

I don't think so, the guy he's talking about is a PG.

Yeah, Mudiay is a PG. Though if he were to pick SMU over Kentucky, Baylor and Kansas (also in his top 5) it may say more to RV that it is okay to choose a place because of the coach relationship and not the just national name plus he wouldn't have a top 20 pg dishing him passes next year. SMU would be the best scenerio here.

Then again, I'm probably over thinking this commitment will matter... but still.

If Muiday chooses anywhere but Kentucky, Tyler Ulis becomes the prime PG target for Calipari - the same Tyler Ulis that Iowa is after hard. Muiday going to SMU could really hurt Iowa, therefore I look forward to watching him play his one year in college for the Mustangs.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Because if we want any chance to start a pipeline in Minnesota, these guys can't be staying in-state and going to Minnesota.

Plus, no matter how much talent Baylor has, Scott Drew is still their coach.

Little Pitino has to start getting in-state guys or he won't be around long.
We call pull this off in this "transition" year for the Goofers.

KU feels like the cool guy that comes into the bar at 1:30 and points at the hot girl you have been buying drinks all night for and takes her home.

Hopefully Freddy can become that guy some day.

Minnesota is putting out lots of really good players, I think Fred would gladly split them up with little Ricky.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Emmanuel Mudiay would be smart to choose SMU, Larry Brown is known as a good teacher of NBA skills. The following is Kentucky's pitch:

What have been your conversations with John Calipari lately or his assistants?

He’s been straight honest with me. He’s had a lot of the top NBA players come through there, and every year he’s successful in the draft. That’s really what he talks about. He (says he) wants to coach me.

Going to Kentucky didn't help Archie Goodwin in the NBA draft. He dropped all the way to 29 after being in the shadow of Noel. Now he is being talked about as being the steal of the draft after being showcased in SL. If you think you are a "one and done" player, you should want to be "the man". ( hopefully Rashad Vaughn does want to be "the man")

“I know a lot of guys in this [Draft] class are not better than me,” said Goodwin. “I'm blessed to even be here, but to see how far I slid down—it was a surprise. Every game I go into, I'm showing every team that didn't pick me that they made a mistake.”

Suns' Archie Goodwin will give 'hell' to teams that passed on him - CBSSports.com

Re: Rashad Vaughn

There are a lot of great prospects in Minnesota right now, but the general thought is that is the exception to have this much. It has been a long time since there was a Travis, Vaughn, Jones class and there isn't another on the horizon. Many blame partly of the downfall of Gopher basketball on the lack of Local talent.

The high school players would be better if the Gophers were better?

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Josh Perkins committed to Gonzaga... this is relevent because Minnesota and UCLA were the other schools his top 3 and there was talk a couple of months ago Perkins and Vaughn could be a package deal. Though those rumors have died down recently, one would think if he did become a Gopher or Bruin it could have improved Vaughn's view of those programs.

Well we are pursuing 2015 Jarvis Johnson a four start recruit and Alex Illikainen who has a ton of offers pretty hard.

We have offered 2016 recruit Amir Coffey as well.

In the last 10 years MN has had quite a few good players, they average around 4 or 5 D1 players and every once in while they have had some loaded classes (this year Vaughn, Travis, Jones), 2009 (Royce White, Rodney Williams, Trent Lockett) .

It is an exception to have 3 top 50 players in a class but Iowa State could easily pick one player a year from Minnesota.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

I've read different posts now that indicated a basketball guru tweeted the main 5 suitors for Vaughn. One post said the tweet listed KU (and no Kentucky), while the other post listed Kentucky ( and no KU). Which one is more accurate? Or are people just mixing up their KU's and UK's.....lol

Re: Rashad Vaughn

What would cause a server meltdown the fastest? ISU getting commits from Vaughn, Jay. Johnson, Ellenson, and Coffey all in the same day, or ISU upsetting a team to make the Final Four?
