Re: Rashad Vaughn

Not shutting the door on RV at all, but if (and I say "if") much of what Mr. Tarheel is saying is true, then I want to barf. I'd rather he go to Kentucky or Minn than end up at KU. Just what Self needs is another top 15 guy and doing it with probably a whole lot less work than what CFH and others have put in on him. Think our staff would feel the same way. (like barfing, that is.)

I'd take a race against KU...obviously they have a ton going for them, but at least it'd be a 2-school battle rather than 5 or 6.

The way I see it, he can go to KU and lose to us, or come to ISU and win with us.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

I think we can all agree we don't want him to go to Kansas. If he doesn't choose us which is a great possibility it will sting just in how much effort we have put into recruiting him but it's definitely a high reward situation. Considering we're pretty much a lock to be in his final 5 it just shows how much respect Fred gets and what he's done for our program

Re: Rashad Vaughn

One thing I think would definitely help our chances is if we can secure another great player in the coming months like Johnson, Travis, Cunningham or Kazuma (sp?). Oh, and I think beating KU with "inferior talent" could demonstrate how good Fred is and make him want to be a part of that. Who knows.

Regardless, we have our advantages and disadvantages that are completely different than KU's pluses and minuses.

In the end, hopefully he likes Fred, the proximity to the Twin Cities, our style of play, Hilton AND the fact that he can be the key guy that puts us over the hump.

At KU, he's one of a handful of big name guys and may or may not take a back seat to others.

It will just depend on what he's looking for.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

if he is truely looking for a 1-and-done situation, he would need some solid assurances that he would be a starter as a freshman at Kansas.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Schools of preference if he doesn't come to ISU.

1) UCLA
2) Kentucky
3) UNC
4) Baylor
5) Minnesota
6) KU

Re: Rashad Vaughn

How could you possibly have Minnesota below Baylor?

Because if we want any chance to start a pipeline in Minnesota, these guys can't be staying in-state and going to Minnesota.

Plus, no matter how much talent Baylor has, Scott Drew is still their coach.

Was my first thought as well until I remembered recruiting. That's an ugly list of possibilities, though I guess I don't care that much about Alford and kind of funny if he has success there for our lovers on the east side.

1. Alford Sucks
2. Calipari Sucks
3. Roy Sucks
4. Big 12 not preferable, Drew Sucks, Drew Cry Baby
5. Recruiting not preferable
6. Big 12 not preferable, Kansas has enough talent to be tough to beat

I have switched my thinking on this and you're probably right that it would be a huge step back for us if somehow little Pitino emerged as a good coach and started keeping his instate talent. Even though to this point we have not actually broken into Minny, we are on the verge and because of the troubles they've had recently there is a good opportunity.

Either way, it sounds like that pipeline might open up a little more next year with the PG that we're recruiting.

This is solid reasoning, I suppose I can get on board with that.

Kansas does have way better looking women to drool all over him... I am convinced that KU boobs is Selfs new secret weapon. They tweet at RV just like they did wiggins. I bet 90% are photoshopped or ku guys giving shirts to strippers to get a shot but creates quite an allusion for a 17 year old boy.
