Re: Rashad Vaughn
Excellent post ... except for the part about Minnesota. Hoiberg never seriously considered it. His legacy is in Ames. Imagine how amazing his story will be after taking us to the NCAA tournament for 20+ years straight.
P.S. And of course, Rashad Vaughn will want to be part of that story!
I don't know why you think people believe it was a forgone conclusion. But it is OK for fans to think it was possible that last years team could have made it to the Final Four. My god, we are allowed to think and speculate and have thoughts. Sometimes Iowa State fans go to far in this direction. It is the very worst quality about Iowa State fans. If anyone dares to have a thought that isn't 100% backed up by facts, then they shouldn't say it. Good ******* grief. Was last year's team a sure bet for the Final Four if they had beat Ohio State? Of course not and NO ONE IS SAYING THAT. But Iowa State had just as good of a shot as anyone. I became a believer last year that the style of play that Iowa State plays is a huge help in those tournaments. Teams haven't played a team like Iowa State before and it shows.
As far as Hoiberg saying this team could have made it to the Final Four. He DID NOT just say at at Tailgate Tours. He's been saying it in almost every interview since the NCAA tournament---national interviews and local interviews. I truly believe he thought that and that is why he looked so horrible after the game. Hell, I think that is is why he thought about Minnesota.
