Re: Rashad Vaughn

I don't know what you are 'WTF' about. It's pretty simple.....it is HIGHLY unlikely that a player who is only in school for 1 year will win a national title. It's not the 70's with UCLA winning 27 straight titles. Even if you go to Kentucky, Louisville, or Duke, the chance of any of them winning in a particular year is not especially high.

The whole talk from players about winning a national title is usually not that serious. Sure they want to go to a school that has a chance, but they all realize it is a crap shoot and at the same time they all think that they are the missing piece.

Highly unlikely doesn't mean they don't really want to. Especially when they can pick any school they want.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

If every 5 star player thought the same way we hope Vaughn thinks, no 5 star player would ever go to an elite program.

Everybody "wants to", 13 scholarship players a year actually do it.

How many of those 5 star players have ever given Iowa State as much consideration as Vaughn has? To make a 5 star players top 11 is a step forward, to still be talked about when he is interviewed is a step forward. It's clear that Vaughn isn't your normal "5 star" player. Are we a long shot, yes. Are we battling the bluebloods, yes.

Who's to say Iowa State is not on it's way to being an elite program. Basically by your thought, because Iowa State is not a current elite program, we should not go after any 5 star guys, because they only go to elite programs.

I enjoy still having hope, and I enjoy the ride CFH has us on. Let's plan for the worst and hope for the best, that's all anyone in this forum is doing.

An elite player can cherry pick a contender. most players go wherever they can. A national championship is less of an "option". There's a reason that one and doners want to go to Kentucky.

27 straight titles is impressive, but what really stands out to me is that they did it all in one decade.

A lot of references to Harrison Barnes situation in here. My honest and true opinion is that Harrison Barnes would have been a Cyclone if Fred Hoiberg was hired 6 months earlier.

If we would have hired fred the first time around it really makes you wonder how good we could have been.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

And what exactly did you expect to find in a 1000+ post thread titled "Rashad Vaughn?"

Opinions about what we think seems entirely appropriate. Despite our over-the-top manners of speech, only a few have even claimed to have inside information. Most of the rest of us are just making the case for why he should come here.

I'm not saying people shouldn't have opinions. I'm just saying that a lot of them (i.e., the definitive statements about where Rashad Vaughan will or won't go to school) are baseless and stupid.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

He is probably using his officials to see new place. Common sense really.

Can anyone name a top 100 player that committed to a school that he didn't visit?

I just think there's not much of a chance that a school that was truly in his top 3 wouldn't get a visit.

*official visit.

He has visited ISU in the past and it is easy for him to visit because it is (well was) close to home. He is taking OFFICIAL visits elsewhere... Nothing to worry about IMO.
