Re: Rashad Vaughn

This.

We've only been on him a few months, but we're competing at the top for Vaughn. We fans like our chances.

Some questions about Vegas and UNLV I've seen. We are diehard. UNLV basketball is our pro team. We were #1 in the west coast in attendance last year. We expect about 40-100 people at the airport waiting for Goodluck Okonoboh this weekend for his official visit.
Our fans help with recruitment. Bennett was showered with love at his findlay practices and game...we expect the same for Vaughn. rebelscrub recruits Anthony Bennett Findlay Prep - YouTube
We landed 5-star Dwayne Morgan and have a really good chance at 5-star Goodluck to have great pieces around him.

We have a lot to offer Vaughn. Our coaches had an in home visit with his parents and now that even though he lives in Vegas right now...he WILL take an official visit to UNLV. His dad has created a great relationship with our coaching staff. Former Findlay Prep head coach Todd Simon is now an assistant at UNLV and recruited Vaughn to Findlay and now to UNLV.
The Kaffey relationship is strong. Kaffey will be in Vegas with Findlay while Vaughn can stay in Vegas as well with UNLV. Kaffey is known to have a huge influence on Vaughn.

Not here doubting your sources, but as far as our insiders have been hearing...UNLV is right there.

I believe UNLV has a great chance.

Good luck to you guys. Should be an interesting rest of recruitment.
has your athletic dept figured out that lon kruger is no longer your coach, i know there was some confusion earlier this month...

Re: Rashad Vaughn

During his visit last year, I saw what looked like the Cyclone Alley folks gathering up posters from fans in the student section. Then, security took a few more away. My favorite was the guy with the white board. He could write whatever he wanted, then just erase it!

What I don't understand is why we didn't do more "Rashad" chants. No one can "take that away." We have to be ready next time he comes for a visit. For instance, have particular chants ready after every made free throw, foul, end of time out, etc.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

Aww thats cute. You guys cant even take a quality honest post without a troll response. (give or take a few reasonable people here)

I found this from someone posting to a UNLV forum. Many are laughing from afar at how you guys really do think Vaughn is a lock....well good luck with that.

Oh and for all these football related posts? lols.
The only thing relevant was the 82-70 beat down you received last season.

I know I have this bookmarked for the future meltdown city. Have a good day.

i talked to several unlv fans at the vegas tourney last year, who all told me how great your fans are. then you had a half empty arena when you played us the next night. you might get vaughn, but your fan support isn't is great as you all say it is. and of course your fans are rowdy - you sell hard liquor at thomas and mack!

How was losing to basketball powerhouse California in last year's tourney in the first round?

Though you did get a lot of troll responses, please remember what forum you are on. You can laugh all you want, I laughed when UNLV as a 5 seed lost to a 12 seed California team in the first round of the tourney. I don't think anyone really feels like Vaughn is a lock but to say UNLV's chances are higher than ISU at this point is ignoring reality and ignoring what other recruiters are estimating.
Rashad Vaughn's Crystal Ball Predictions
You are right about kaffey seeming to be a blue blood chaser, but in the end, we will see how much pull he has. If he is on staff at UNLV, we will know how you "won" his services and it isn't because of fan support.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

No one is denying that Vaughn has mutual intrest in UNLV, obviously they have a good program and can get players to the top of the NBA draft. As for ISU fans confidence, it is being fueled by the national experts who are interpreting the tea leaves as of today like everyone. Any fanbase would be acting the same way, cautiously optomistic.

That said from following his recruitment for a long time, he loves the spot light (AKA MrShowtime) and wants maximum exposure. I just don't seeing him wanting to play on the west coast where his games against Boise State or Air Force are on CBSSports.net starting at 9:30 PM local time. That is my impression, and we'll see if I am correct in a few months.

Before anyone says (UNLV stalkers from afar) that could hurt ISU chances too, note that a majority of ISU games, (includes three Big Monday games this year) are earmarked for the mothership.
