Re: Rashad Vaughn

I have a hard time seeing RV looking for much more than a coach who can best ready him for the NBA, and a team that can surround him with some other good talent. Maybe thats way too simple minded of me.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

The only one I am involved in is a pay site. There are many freeboards out there.
Just because they are out there doesn't mean they are worth a ****. shoot hawkeyenation is a freeboard, that doesnt mean i would want to read anything on that waste of a site.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

That doesn't matter now though. Ancient success is just that, ancient. Getting bounced first round to a lesser opponent is nothing to brag about.
Exactly, Minnesota has like 7 national championships, do you think anyone cares what they did in the 1930s?

Not much you can do to "Ready" guys like Vaughn for the NBA in just 1 year.
They want to showcase their skills to scouts and go as high as possible in the draft.
Anthony Bennett came in and did exactly what he wanted to do. Play an inside and outside PF. The staff let him play his game.
Anthony Bennett was a fringe lottery pick before UNLV. He became the #1 pick. Not because we "developed" him, but because he was able to play his game in a system that works for high paced scorers like him.
The product sells itself. I'd bet Vaughn is VERY interested in that.

As for talent around him...like I said. We have a 5-star SF already locked in with a 5-star center on our campus for an official on Sunday. That along with about 6 other former 3-4 star players that will be on the roster in 2014.

Never said they were. I just said there are many of them..which divides the community. Rivals is probably the closest one to being the most active, but I don't even bother with the freeboard.

Anthony Bennett going 1 has less to do with UNLV and more to do with the incompetence that is the Cavaliers front office.

Yeah we wouldnt know anything about playing fast paced... I mean we were only 4th nationally in Points per Game (79.6 ppg) and we typically run NBA offensive sets... Yeah we certainly wouldn't know anything about maximizing a scorers potential... oh wait...

Also... Cleveland was the team drafting #1. That's all i needed to know.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

One question no one can answer is exactly what kind of team (players) Vaughn wants to play with. If wanted to play with the team with the most talent and share the scoring load, he'd just sign with Kentucky, or possibly Kansas or UNC depending on how pieces fall into place. If he wants to be the clear or even only option, he'd go to Minnesota. The rest of the teams, ISU and UNLV included, are somewhere in between.

Never said you didn't. People here were questioning UNLV or saying they weren't a threat. I'm just here to give another perspective not put ISU down.

He was projected top 5 pick regardless...CLE picked who they thought was the best option.

agreed.

There is a reason ISU and UNLV are the top two right now. I think it's a combination of being the guy and also having quality pieces around him.
You guys obviously like where you are at with his recruitment. I am really excited about UNLV's work on him. 4 months ago UNLV wasn't even looking into Vaughn that hard and now we're near the top. The staff has obviously made an impression and Vaughn has yet to even see the campus and facilities.

Sure

I found this from someone posting to a UNLV forum. Many are laughing from afar at how you guys really do think Vaughn is a lock....well good luck with that.

Oh and for all these football related posts? lols.
The only thing relevant was the 82-70 beat down you received last season.

I know I have this bookmarked for the future meltdown city. Have a good day.

Whoa easy. Cleveland has one of if not the best young team in the league. They are going to blow up this year, and just get better the following years.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

think everyone is going a little overboard attacking the UNLV guy. the article he posted was kinda a kick in the nuts, but it was more informative then the last 100 posts of fanatics high on cool aid. keeping my expectations in check for now

There's that and the fact that guy's like Zeller started giving NBA execs shpilkis.

Give a call, we'll talk, no big whoop.

I'll go ahead and absolutely disagree with you here. Not all coaches are great developers and teachers (coughcoughcoughscottdrewcoughcough), but even one and done players are far from the finished product. They may have their bodies ready for primetime, but there is a lot of mental development to be done, not to mention perfecting shooting stroke and the finer parts of a player's game. This is one of Fred's best qualities - without Coach Hoiberg we have absolutely no chance with a guy like Vaughn. I think those not in the know about Hoiball will soon find out what it's all about.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

UNLV is a serious threat. More than one national analyst has alluded to this recently.

Of course we all (Cyclones) think Iowa State is a better place for him - but it's his choice.

Re: Rashad Vaughn

I'm guessing UNLV, ISU, or KU will be his destination. Just because KU can pull **** out of nowhere.

However, I don't see UNLV only recruiting him for 4 months as an advantage for them like the UNLV fan does. I think it is a much bigger advantage that ISU has been recruiting him since the beginning and has been sending the full court press. It is good for UNLV that he has gotten to this level of interest this quickly, but getting a commitment is a whole other story.
