Re: Rashad Vaughn - Announcing Saturday

There are two reasons ISU is the overwhelming favorite:

We are one of two schools he has officially visited

The other school is UNLV

He has said very little to tip his hand, so people think it is one of the two schools, and on the surface that choice appears to be a no brainer. If RV had taken more officials ISU might still be the favorite, but probably not an overwhelming one like it is now on the crystal ball.

Rivals has also turned up ISU and UNLV to High while leaving the other finalists at Medium.

Re: Rashad Vaughn - Announcing Saturday

Recruiting never makes sense but their is no logical reason he'd cancel his UNC visit if he was going to commit there this weekend.

There could be a lot of reasons that make some sense. Heck, he could announce and then also announce that his visit has been rescheduled for next Wednesday (Duke @ UNC).

I kinda doubt it's us. I think he picks KU for some reason. However if not ISU I hope it's UNLV so we never have to hear about him but wish him the best in his college career

Re: Rashad Vaughn - Announcing Saturday

He has visited UNC though. So not sure why everyone is so caught up on this "Official" stuff. Just because it was not official does not mean he didn't go to UNC and see what it is about and experience the game day. Probably even shook hands with Jordan and Worthy and the rest.

One can come up with plausible scenarios as to why he would announce his decision before he takes his official to UNC and still pick them, but taken at face value it doesn't look good. That's the reason it is considered down to ISU and UNLV, and most are leaning ISU. Buy he could choose any of his top 5. Who the hell knows, maybe Vaughn isn't 100% certain yet.

Re: Rashad Vaughn - Announcing Saturday

UNLV really doesn't have much to offer, other than that he will play mostly inferior competition. Their coach has proven he can't coach.

With Selden likely coming back I don't know why he would go to Kansas, same with Kentucky and the Harrison twins.

ISU has a starting spot available, an NBA style of play, and a coach that he admittedly loves as well as an atmosphere that he was impressed by

In order of how shocked I will be

1. UNLV
2/3. KU/UK
4. UNC
5. ISU

I would be willing to bet Rashad Vaughn will be hated by Iowa State fans more than Harrison Barnes 4 years from now.

They seem, for the most part, to be very complimentary of Fred and ISU

Why wouldn't they be? Thus far we've been the perfect combination of good for conference/KU's profile while still being a game KU wins the majority of the time. I would expect the claws to come out a little more should the head-to-head record start shifting a bit more in our favor.

Outside of CF, not a chance. Barnes was an Ames kid and a local story. I would guess your average Cyclone fan that supports the team but does not follow the recruiting process likely doesn't even know Vaughn's name.

I don't think anyone hates Barnes; it's more frustration with the McDoormat era. Freddy probably would have been able to keep him in town.

Feels like the staff is playing along just to heighten the suspense. I'll be shocked if he chooses anyone other than ISU.

I don't think anything will ever touch the Barnes situation. That was the perfect storm of fanbase frustration and missteps by the recruit in how to handle the situation.

Are you under the impression that they Vaughn and Johnson are siblings? They aren't, they are friends and we are recruiting her actual brother Jarvis.
