Do you think that ESPN's desire to reduce P5 payouts by reducing P5 inventory has changed, just because the Big 12 elected not to go along with the idea and join the AAC? Of course not.

Stew Mandel has been doing that on this exact subject since the start. But he has a byline so we have to pretend his ******** is different somehow. You should always consider the source, but Mhver3 is as full of it as any one else is.

I believe Kliavkoff is out of touch or worse.

We're people on a message board and I'm sure a group of us could've navigated the PAC situation better than their last two commissioners.

Perhaps, but he also has some good info at times that you can hear/collaborate elsewhere, some of which may not materialize but was valid at the time. If one can’t get value and enjoyment from feeds like MHver it’s on them for not having any ability to discern

This tweet thread has some pseudo specific details. My guess is it’s a valid picture of what AD world is hearing. He normally gets off track when defensive or if the ACC is involved and he gets into the WV fantasies of somehow ending up being peers to unc

Pitt would be a great rival for WV.

I think also NC State, Syracuse, even Ga Tech make a decent amount of sense. Gotta assume FSU, Miami, Clemson, UNC, Duke, UVa all end up in B1G or SEC. BC and Wake are probably the only ones that would be a pass for the Big12.

At this point, I don’t think the Big12 is trying to destroy the PAC12. I think Yormark has positioned the conference to be a safe landing spot for those who want a place for when WHEN that conference fails.

The writing is on the wall, just thankful ISU is safe and the Big12 is viable still.

It really feels like the narrative of a P2 will be here before we know it. Failure to call out the B1G and the SEC is just laying the groundwork that both are above scrutiny.

The expanded playoff will allow for more teams. But the deck is stacked, and I expect 6-8 of the 12 to be from those two leagues in any given season.

No, it's not. That's part of his trap. He knows that by making it sound really specific, people are less likely to doubt him. Here's his schtick:

1. Read the articles we read. If you notice, he'll tweet just after articles drop, and include a nugget of the article that we all read, so that people think his story checks out.

2. Make sure to include specific details about the **** he makes up. He knows that people are less likely to doubt and more inclined to take it seriously/share if it's specific.

3. Whenever one of his hundred made up nuggets comes to fruition, he'll pin it to his page on harp on it often to further build credibility.

4. He kicks back and watches how far his **** spreads.

I think the reason I get so worked up about it is that by sharing his tweets, we are perpetuating this cycle and allowing his following to grow. Don't be complicit. Don't share the bait, as tempting as it may be...

Why are people concerned at all about leagues getting “blamed” for realignment. People will ***** about lost rivalries, feel bad for teams that get left out for all of five minutes, then forget about it and watch games. It makes zero difference in real terms if people think Yormark is trying to break up the PAC as long as it’s legal. I don’t understand this crying about the Big 10 not getting flak. Who gives a crap and why does it matter? What ends up making the most financial sense will end up happening, and who ends up the bad guy will make zero difference.

IMO, the Big 12 and B1G both want Pac-12 schools -- but neither commish wants to be known as the one who kicked the chair out from the under the noose.

Who cares if the B12 is trying to destroy the P12 or not. Did anyone go after the B10, when they raided the ACC, B12 and lately the P12? Did anyone go after the SEC for taking UT and OU? Each conference is doing what is best for its own self-interests, if that harms another conference, then too bad. It's in the best interest of the B12 to see the P12 fall apart and absorb some of those schools, that is all the justification the league needs.

If that's true, the PAC is done. Anyone with an option isn't going to sign a GOR for $20m. And a 2 year deal just seems to be delaying the inevitable.

Plus, awarding Tier 1 rights on a 2 year deal with option. Not a lot of security and seems like a one-sided approach by Amazon. I would be curious # of games Amazon is looking to carry each week.

I hear you. I just find it VERY hard to believe that he has a source who is simultaneously in the backrooms of both the Big 12 and Pac-12, and is privy to very specific numbers from both conferences. If he does indeed have such a source, than I don't know why he's not working for the New York Times instead of anonymously spewing it on twitter...

Georgie boy may be a bit of a snake oil salesman, but he inherited an untenable situation. Maybe if he had pushed to get an extension in place before the Big 12 did he could've saved them, but I have a hard time imaging the conference presidents would've been willing to leave any money on the table or sign a long enough GOR.

Larry is ultimately responsible for the demise of that once proud conference.

In my line of work, I run into this situation often - either the client (so to speak) is telling the truth about something that seems to have a very low probability of being true OR the client is lying and it’s just a really weird thing to be lying about. In this case, I guess the incentive would be attention. I know I WANT it to be true

I believe he's just a dude with a VIP 247 account that reads all of the message boards. He's a compiler of rumors from the "more credible" posters on there. He presents it as fact, which I have an issue with, but if you utilize his account purely as a rumor compiler he can be a good source of entertainment.

I'm constantly reminded that the PAC took Colorado from the Big 12. I mean, the first shot happened there.
